Just signed on to this site yesterday. What I have been looking for. Looks like season is over here in western new york. Have owned 25 sleds since 1965. Many memorable rides, but my 07 FST is hands down the best. Bought this year as new left over. Updates were done, 1400 miles, no problems, original belt. 16 mpg riding hard, 17 mpg trail riding, 19 mpg riding with girlfried (has own sled) 35-45 mph thru Moose River Plains in Adk. Mtns. Sounds too good to be true, but at 60 yrs old I can do the math & have no reason to BS anyone. In all fairness I don't ride as hard for as long as I used to, but I can still keep up with the kids for a while.
The damn thing is fast !!!! Inch & a quarter Ripsaw, 144 studs and an SLP can is it. Destroys 800 Doos, the same to F 8's. Ran into several four stroke Yammi's at a local pit stop. Good guys, one said he had done some work to his and wanted to touch one off. Why not? His mistake !! None of his buddys wanted to play after that. Would like to run a 1000 Cat or Doo for s & g's, has anyone out there done that? Suspect that sled could hold its own if Doo or Cat were close to stock.

Ive had the same results as you have with my 07 FST IQLX.
I have run it with a T CAT 1000 and a 1000 doo and they will pull me.
They both got better holeshot. [The M10 dosent hook up as good as I would like]

I also have a 07FST SWITCH studded "144 pattern" 220+ studs
That sled will destroy a STOCK T CAT 1000 from 0-115. along with 1000 skidoos
Hookup on the Switchback is almost comical
After 115 the 1000s will start to gain on me.
But it takes one Looooong lake for them to finally catch me.

I ride with some fast sleds 1000 T CAT, APEX, F7. etc
After showing them what happens when they line up with my Switch last season I have not been invited to race with them once this year.
I think thats pretty funny!

Mine is a regular short track FST, but I still agree with you. Killer Holeshot!!! Long time before the skis come down. Usually pull holeshot and gone. Have also let them go and drove around them -- MORE FUN. Thanks for the info on the 1000's, going to be a long boring summer before I get my chance to run one. Had an M10 on an 04 800, great ride, limited hook, that's one reason I have the FST.

How did you get it to go that fast?
104 mph at 8600 rpms max for me.

This was with the sled 100% stock escape.gif . 1.25 144", stock gearing, stock clutching. My rpm for this stupidity was around 8200 peak. With the way it is now, I can get maybe 87-88, but with the track and gearing I've got, I'll take it! For you it could be lots of things, but I would guess that there may be an issue with the clutching or belt slip.

I managed to get 108 out of my stock 06 FST classic with an M-10. But it keeps blowing the belt every 500 miles, and it gets 11 MPG.
Too Slow
A few weeks ago a bunch of us took turns flogging a buddies 08 fst dragon down a local lake with mint conditions....doing 1 mile runs...saw consistent 114-116 mph runs. Sled really impressed me...stability at that speed was like sitting in a limo.
