Just did a compression test on my 94 Xlt and it was 95 across the board. I know its good to have all three read the same but is that a little too low? and if so, how do you get it higher?.

That's low, but not back for 12,000 miles :-) Normally a newish engine will be at around 120lbs per cylinder, iirc.

Can the 95 be brought up though without a major engine job? and is it worth it?

If you're lucky, new rings can help, but it's best to do it right so you get good reliability out of the engine.

I appreciate all the info i've been getting from everyone here. I was just speaking to my bro who is a small engine mech and when he heard that it had 95lbs compression he informed me that it was engine rebuild time. So yes, this summer the engine is coming out and is gonna get totally done. I'm actually pretty excited about it!!!. It's also pretty nice that I have some connections to boot!.

I didn't like the reading so my bro inlaw brought his over and we re tested and his read 115lbs right across. I guess i'll hold off on the tear down beer_cheers.gif
