Im looking for some pros and cons of the Humminbird 565 portable...i need a portable b/c my lil john boat doesnt have electric start and im just looking to be able to spot fish in shallow water up to 50' at most...i was wondering what the pros and cons ppl have about this fishfinder...u dont have to have the portable version to list opinions just the same model...

i was also looking at the garmin model and was wondering if anyone has experimented with any of their FF products yet...

I have the Eagle fishmark 480 on my 10 ft john boat. I also use a trolling motor on it. I mounted the finder bracket to the middle seat and remove the finder every time I'm done fishing. I bought a piece of PVC pipe and mounted the transducer to the bottom of the pipe. I put 2 broom holder brackets on the back of my boat that hold the PVC pipe with the transducer. The PVC pipe snaps in and out very easily. I was going to buy a portable unit, but I wanted a bigger screen and when the 480 went on sale I bought it instead of the 320 unit. I am very happy with my finder and how I can mount and unmount it from my boat. I should do a youtube video showing how to mount one to a piece of PVC pipe and how to put the broom holder clamps on the boat. It is VERY easy to do and you can have it all done in less than a 1/2 hour and be ready for your maiden voyage. If you have any questions for me, PM me.
