Thinking of an 09 turbo Switchback
ride, handling, fuel range per tank,is weight an issue?
Currently have the 08 700 Switch,it's been a great sled 3100 miles, lost the PTO side piston the other night. Not sure about the 4 strokes, power wise or cold weather starting any issues?
Help!

I've looked over the 09 brochure and there isn't a one person sled that would intice me to make a purchase. Can't believe the lack of FST choices.

I'd go with the 800, alot lighter and more power. I'm not sure of the fuel mileage on the 800 though. FST maybe 14-15mpg.

Looks like you ride mostly on trails, so I would pick the turbo switcher or the turbo dragon because of the mileage. Mine is getting 15-17 Had lots of issues the first two years on mt 06 FST Classic, but this year went trouble-free.

My 08 Turbo Switchback is getting about 14 mpg until I go off trail or hit deep snow. At speed on powder, 12"-24", maybe 11-12 mpg. The mpg isn't bad when boondocking but the weight of the sled and underhood temperature buildup (which is fully vented with the heat elimination kits), gave me some problems with the belt slipping and clutch heating up on a warm day. I might suggest a 2 stoke for boondocking and a longer track. That said, the 08 Turbo Switch has been a great sled on big trails. I wouldn't mind better mileage but it has nearly doubled my mpg on my 2004 600 xcsp. I hear the new 2 strokes come close in mpg.

I'd go with a 2 stroke... I'm getting 11 MPG with my FST & the belts are coming apart every 500 miles.

Something is wrong with YOUR FST then.

I have rode a 2006 FST and did not want to get off of it, it was a blast to ride and it had some really good power! I am not sure on the mpg as it is not my sled and I have not asked the guy his mpg...
