tcatsteve
Why are you blowing up every year? running it on the lean side?
jahnke
Absolutely.

Been running them since I was 15. Never blown one up, racing or trail riding.
bradford
yea obviously you need a new mechanic mine both have 5500 hard miles on them.

Killer lookin sled!

Thanks man. Just turned over 6300 miles. Once in a while I switch tracks & gearing, take it to the track & suprise the newer stuff. I used to race it all the time but I enjoy trail riding it & I have enough true race sleds to keep me busy. My other one has a little over 5500 miles & I've never had the motor down.
zrt6racer
ya it was on the lean side this is the first winter with no problems. but that is beacuse i got a new crank new crank case, new whole top end lol and so on and i do love it now not as fast as it used to be but that thing would destroy pistons. i not got 9000 miles on my sled about 600 on my new motor this year.
zrt800_RACING
this is my second year with my triple and i love it

While I always loved the SOUND of triples, I didn't like the handling (my Dad had a '97 ZRT600 ..... it was just too "heavy" in the corners dunno.gif ).

So I stuck to the lightweight twins.

And THEN my Dad got an '02 T-Cat rolleyes.gif.

I f'n loved it!! bowdown.gif Couldn't believe how great a BIG triple could handle!

Unfortunately my F7 was stolen this winter, but when I went to replace it, I found a nice '01 T-Cat, and opted to go that way instead wink.gif. It's a killer machine!! thumbsup.png The raw power of that sled reminds me of my summer ride (2002 Camaro Z28) and the handling is exceptional for a big triple!! grinning-smiley-023.gif

I'm sold!!! beer_cheers.gif

i have had nothing but triples twins shake and vibrate too much, 5000 miles on an ext 600, 7500 miles on a zrt800, 8000 miles on a sxr700 nothing sound better and pull better from 0-100 plus. just mt 2 cents.

Hey Auggie, I see you have 2000 ZRT 600. I just picked one up a couple of weeks ago. I always liked the looks and sound of them. Am I going to like riding it as much as my F-5? I'm hoping it's faster, but I'll have to wait for the snow to fly to find out for sure. Care to share any suspension set up tips for a ZRT. I weigh 190. It already has a coupling kit on it.
Auggie
Wayno, you misread. I have a ZRT 800.

well i love my zrt, and if youve actually blown one up then your not paying attention to your sled,

they DO needa bit more preventative maintenance and take a little more to keep tuned up , but there is an advantage in my mind, getting 3 cylinders to run perfect takes a bit of constant tuning but when something isnt right or starts to go south it shows up right away. my machine never skips a beat but if it does,,,, its talking to you...... If your machine is talking to you and you arent listening your gonna burn it down and it doesnt matter if you have 2 or 3 cylinders the same logic applies..... most of the time someone brings me a sled tells me it hasnt been running right for a week or two but they kept on riding it thinking it would just go away.....

i have a 98 MSRX 700 blew it up for the first time this year, got a little bit of mist in the motor, never had problems with it, got new pipes and stingers for it and a clutch kit the sled rips!!
tcatsteve
Don't forget the most important rule when rebuilding you're motor, When it blows up , make it faster!!!
hyrczyk
I love both of mine. The srx that I built has to be one of the best handling sleds I have had/rode but the addition of a 01 T-cat took over the spot of my favorite sled to ride. Looking forward to building that up during the off season. I would not part with my tripples even though they take a little muscle to keep up with the lighter sleds in the twisties and in the powder.

love it!!!

What happened?

Obviously there are things that can happen that you have no warning about before hand but preventaive maintaince takes care of a lot of issues before they become big problems.

There where so sigh of a problem.I noticed smoke coming from the hood.Pulled over opened the hood the left pipe was so hot it was melting the insulation and the hood.Sled still ran,but i got a tow back to the truck.scufed a piston, needed to replace the hole left side of the motor.

Out of coolant I bet.

LOVE the power my trippple gives BUT..........after riding a rider forward sled it makes me realize just how outdated our sleds are. You can do the ALGT mod but it still don't change the geometry of where you sit in relationship to the pivot point of sled.
Pilot-Werx
maybe someday there will be a rider forward sled that will be better on the railbeds than my Thundercat. I prefer the sit back and hold on chassis for my petite 6'4" frame. Also I have yet to see a new sled that does not have a turbo or nitrous be able to trump my big bitch on the flats....
sam6969
hmm twin or tripple????????

Smack
just bought an 02 zrt last winter put maybe 100 miles which bring the total up to 680. and i wouldnt own anything else

I just LOVE her trippple---now don't get me wrong I'd stay with a trippp. in a heartbeat if it came in a rider forward chassis and even if I get a rider forward that don't mean I'll stop playing with my trippp-trippps are like a drug, you can and WILL get addicted to one once you've owned one
lastzrt
Left my 02 ZRT at the dealership at spring order time tihs year. There may have been moist eyes.
8000 trouble free miles. (didn't get shit for it) Some one is going to get a nice sled cheap.

The new drug better be good.
