So we are all riding and loving the great conditions and it's late March. People are talking about riding in May. Well, I was reading the spring flood outlook from the National Weather Service and couldn't believe what I was reading. They say that there is 10 - 15 inches of liquid equivilent in the snow pack right now. That is freaking amazing, but also dangerous. A few days of 60 degrees and rain and there will be a catastrophic disaster up here. Our gain could wind up being the loss of the entire area. Pray for a gradual thaw people.

Here's the report

Yeah, I am reading a lot of concerns all over northern NE about a rapid melt. Yes let's hope a for a gradual warm up - (but not till a few more weeks grinning-smiley-023.gif )

I believe it. Look what happened the weekend a few weeks ago where Burke got rain. The streets in front of the River garden Cafe and Bailey and Burke were flooded. Wonder if it will be a repeat during the thaw....

Heres last april in middletown ct. One of my favorite hangouts. Harbor Park restaurant. For everybody that knows that place it basically gets flooded every year.http://www.ctcentral.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=18230614&BRD=1645&PAG=461&dept_id=10856&rfi=6

Hopefully the Ice on the rivers breaks up and doesnt jam, that elimates some problems. Straight water isnt as bad when you dont have 500-1000 pound chunks of ice flowing at will.
