I have a 2002 Classic 600 2-Up with over 6000 miles that the wife uses and a newer 2005 XCSP 600 that I bought because the 02 was so reliable and easy to start. There are enough differences in our sleds that this could be alot of apples and oranges but I am sure some of the parts are the same and you may run into the issues:
- If you have single carbides the sled will probably dart on the straights and if you change them to doubles carbides that will all but take the darting away,
- If the starter goes where the spinner will spin but it won't stay engaged with the fly wheel a quick rebuild at your small engine shop will fix it
- If the speedometer stops working it is probably the drive shaft bearing. I learned the expensive way that there was a zerk down there.
- If the 700 is anything like the 600 then it is super reliable and easy to start. Use the synthetic oil and I am sure it will last you
I thought the 2up was fast when I first bought it then I got my XCSP and that was fast (same engine 100 pounds lighter and a shorter track). This year I went for a ride on a buddies 2000 XCSP 700 and couldn't believe the speed so if yours is close to the latter it is going to be quick
Enjoy your new sled. That is the one I was looking at back in 2002 but I realized I wouldn't get to get out too often so I bought the 2-up so the wife could go. As soon as she became an X I bought the XCSP and love it.
