I posted this yesterday on another forum and thought you all might like to see some other pictures of the Z1 Turbo. I know that if I could afford it I would buy it for sure. Just click on the link below.

Def. needs a padded top on the bar riser.

Gauges mounted above the bars have 0 protection in a roll over.

Anyone know if the oil line runs thru the turbo first before entering the engine. That was the setup on the T 660, great for cooling the turbo but should have had a cooler in the line before oil goes thru the engine. Super hot oil going into the engine never made sense to me...... that was my only beef with my T 660's.

If the gray was silver it would look better. Just my .02.

I'm pretty sure that the pictures are of the base model, and not the LXR that has IRp and the deluxe gauge. As for the oil cooling set-up, i'm not sure. But I will try to see tomorrow at the show in Ottawa.

Take pics of the LE's, LXR's and of the two up. Even though I rode the two up and was thoroughly impressed, I'm still leaning towrds the single seater, in LE trim.

I am trying to get a commitment out of the guys at Tour Buddy to build the 2.5 gal extra tank. They have a great picture of one in the F8 on their web site and the site also states that it will fit the Z1. That would give us 13.2 gals which would be fantastic! I do not believe the tank will work on the TZ1 model sleds.

That tour buddy just about flips me to the Z1 Turbo instead of the TZ1 Turbo, one of the reasons I was thinking about the TZ1 was for the storage and the ability to haul fuel, I would never have the rear seat mounted on the sled (no one ever wants to sit in back of me, boo hoo) so I could carry a jerry can with room to spare.

The tour buddy on the Z1 should give the sled a range of about 170 miles based on 13.5 mpg, with a little left in the bottom of the tank to start a fire, plus if you really need more range you can lift the seat all the way up and stuff two one gallon oil containers filled with fuel under the seat.

The Arctic Cat experts at the show here in Grand Rapids stated that the mpg's should range between 9 mpg to about 18 mpg depending on how you ride. Of course the 9 mpg is with the throttle peg wide open all the time. There was also some talk of about 60/70 mph at 1/3 to 1/2 throttle and at 45 to 55 you should see 15+ mpg. So I am hoping for about 180 miles + with a few extra miles left in the tank for reserves with the Tour Buddy installed, that will meet my needs, I guess time will tell!! Just need to get them to commit to building the tank.

At half throttle the TZ1 Turbo I rode was easily doing to 70-80 mph, whats really impressive is when you pin the throttle at 80 mph and the sled surges to 100 and beyond. This turbo has the most unique power output I've ever experienced, for being so powerful the smoothness it has is unbelieveable.

Vince......I had previously read your post on your TZ1 ride---nice post!!!
I was surprised after the great praise that you are considering a non TZ1 Turbo in favor of the Z1Turbo......I was considering the TZ1 Turbo with wide ski for an occasional off trail riding---boondocking....not steep mountains. My Z1 2008 Nightfire does awsone with Simmons Gen 2 skis...so I thought the new TZ1 Turbo would even be more awsome......did you think the weight was too much...what is affecting your decision other than the extra price ($1000).

Good question Moose, if I only rode in the UP, Ontario, or Quebec I would without question get the 144" sled, but the riding that I do that is within two to five hours of the house is a lot of tight twisty trails, and over half my mileage this year was done on tight and twisty trails.

So my thoughts are if I'm riding about 2,000 miles a year in tight and twisty do I really want to do it on a 144" sled, If anyone has experience with a 144 on tight trails I'd like to hear your opinion.

The other thing Moose, is The Tour Buddy on the Z1 Turbo really makes it good touring sled for me as I'll have a large mileage range, and I can put a set of saddle bags on it, trunk bag, and the windshield bag and with all that storage I'll have enough room to sled for a month (it's nice to dream eh).

If you look at my avatar thats my sled, it has an under the hood tour buddy and I put the rack on the ZR because I got tired of my right saddlebag and it's contents reeking of two stroke even though they were wrapped in plastic.

So with the Z1 Turbo I can go back to saddlebags, I'll have good handling for the tight and twisties, Tour Buddy in the trunk, and I save a $1,000.00 that I can actually spend on riding.

BTW Moose if your going to boondock, I think the 144" Turbo is the way to go.
