Hi, I'm currently riding a 03 REV X 600 HO, but want to start a mountain mod project. I thought about putting a longer track on my REV, but I also want a bigger engine... So I decided to sell it, buy a sled that has a bigger engine and possebly a longer track, but I'm also leaning a bit for a F7 project. So I'm interested in your experiences with theese kind of projects... And of course I would love som pics.

I think an M7 would be a better basis for building a mountain sled than the F chassis. Still going to be stuck with only a 700 so maybe look around for a Summit 800? All depends on what sort of snow you expect to ride in most of the time and how much money you can spend wink.gif

I'm not going to purcase a new sled, problably a 02 or 03. Most likely a summit, rmk or mtn-cat. But it does not heve to be a long track since i problably will be swapping track and suspention anyway...
I'm thinking lightwight, power and looks and I have currently no idea how much I'm gonna spend... All I know is that I wnt to use the sled as much as possible whwn building it. That way I dont need two sleds and then I can also test each mod I do along the way...
Anyone with theese kind of experiences? Anything will help, preferably with pics too.

Don't you think the firecat would have more power than a summitt 800 anyways?

A m7 would be good also because it would come w/ the 151" track and stock long tunnel so it'd be cheaper to start w/...if you can afford the dealer price.

I've heard from a dealer that Cat will bring out a whole new series of engines for 2006 where the 700 wil produce 155-160 ponies so I dont wanna buy a new cat next year when I know there's something brutal in the air for 2006...
So I don't wanna spend all that money on a brand new sled whwn I know I'll problably swap the year after anyways... So a new sled is out of the question.
Anyways... I'll start the project mostly because I want a project (I like working on sleds), and it will be lighter and more powerful than any other sled in its class when I'm finished with it no matter what sled I choose to start with.

No they do not. I've owned both and ridden several of both and stock for stock or modded to modded, a cat 700 is not the same motor as a rotax 800 but then again that is to be expected when comparing a 8 to a 7 right? If ever went back to a cat I would be hanging around for a M8 or an M9.

Get a King Kat & put Boondockers nitrous on it.That would get the job done easy.

if u longtrack an 02 or 03 firecat you'l have to settle for the 13.5 track

The firecat track (13.5) trenches more then the 15 inch track IMO.

Ok, thanks for all the input...
