i rode with a buddy last weekend who had a yamaha rx-1, man that thing sounded sweet. i am interested in the 2009 z1 turbo, but does anyone know do the ac's have that deep rumble to them? is that pretty standard for 4-strokes? any help or if anyone has a soundbite of one i would greatly appreciate it.

Hi the zi has a sound more like an atv,and the r1 sounds like a street bike (sweet)the two sleds sound very different.

Yeah, my friend has the new 4 cyl. Yam with the R1 strret bike engine, sounds amazing! The Cats all sound like @$$ though, embarassing in comparison but nobody seems to make a can or systen for the t660. The turbo complicates all that from what I understand. I used to roadrace bikes and I had a lot of loud and very cool sounding bikes. I am sure that a system could be made to make that 3 cyl. sound great but who's gonna do that when they don't even make them anymore? Too bad! As for the Z1, the twins will never sound cool, just like a quad. The Ducati bikes sound O.K. but not as cool as the big inline multis.

I hate the sound of the apex so Im glad cats dont sound like that. I think if you re going to ride something as loud as an apex you might as well just stick to a 2 stroke. Just my opinion though I know Im in the minority.
