There has been much speculation on what shocks will grace the front suspension on the 2009 600 and 800 Dragon SP. The answer is Walker Evans Needle coil over shocks with Piggy Back remote reservoirs fitted with compression clickers. These shocks are very similar to the ones found on the 2007 700 Dragon, but will now feature a piggy-back reservoir design versus a remote reservoir with braided line.

Due to the timing of our photo shoots, many images show the Dragon SP with Walker Air Piggy Back shocks, however this is incorrect.

We have been asked several times why Polaris no longer offers an M-10 suspension. No doubt the M-10 was a very admirable falling rate suspension and was a breakthrough suspension design when it was first introduced 15+ years ago. But it also had its short comings and in the past 15 years there have been several advancements in suspension technology which in some instances exceeds the original M-10 design. Two of the biggest short-comings of the M-10 was the "spine-tingler" effect which occured when the suspension would "crash through" on a large bump or g-out hole, a trait of a true falling-rate suspension curve. The other was the significant adjustments required by an M-10 for subtle changes in trail conditions or load weight. The following chart illustrates how the Polaris Comfort 136" rear suspension dramatically reduces these adjustments while delivering comparable one-up comfort and exceedingly improved two-up comfort.

There have been a few questions asked regarding the new 800 and 600 Dragon SP skidframe and how it differs from the standard IQ skidframe. This download should answer a lot of them.

There have been a few questions and concerns regarding the two wheel rear axle set-up used on some Shift and Lightweight SP skidframes from Polaris. Hopefully this Q&A will answer many of them.

Question: If you stud a sled in inboard rear wheels only, do you need to add the outside wheels?

Answer: If you are planning on studding the center band only, this is not an issue. If you decide to stud outside the clips (the outer bands of the truck) you may need to add outside rear axle wheels if you plan on a high stud count in these outer bands. It frankly depends upon how many you place in the outer bands and how aggressive you intend to corner the sled. To date we have not seen a need to do so.

Question: If I stud only in the center belt, do I need rear axle wheels?

Answer: You will not need outer rear axle wheels.

Question: What is the primary reason for inboard rear axle wheels only?

Answer: Weight savings and performance.

Converting from inboard rear axle wheels to a 3 wheel or 4 wheel application:

600 IQ Shift/ 550 IQ Shift/ 600 IQ Shift 136 - All three of these models are basically the same.
To convert from 2 inside wheels to:

4 total wheels:

Replace shaft with 5020744

Add two wheels

3 total wheels:

Replace center spacer with 5333285

Remove one small spacer 7555918 and one inside wheel

Replace outer plastic spacers with 5432535

Replace shaft with 5020744

Add one wheel

600 / 800 Dragon SP models require different parts to convert, they are:

FYI – the small washer spacers (7555918) are used whenever you have a wheel.
