Hey all.. Im in the search for a new sled.. I found a 2006 Mach Z X 1000 SDI. for $6400 with 1 mile on it. Everythings stock. Sitting at a stealership. Comes with a 1 year warrenty. You think thats a good deal? My search list was a Yamaha Apex/Attak, Arctic Cat F7 or Zr800/900.. I couldnt find any with reasonable mile's for the price everyone wanted. What do you all think about the Mach Z's? I know this is the SkiDoo part. So i dont care if your being biased or if your just a down right skidoo lover. I wanna hear what everyone has to say. I will be picking it up on friday.
Thanks

That's a great deal!!!
You will love the sled. Fast, great handling and mileage. Looks the best too.
There are a couple of mods you should do to keep things from going south though. The airbox to the panel seal is not good. Get a set of uni-filters to put right on the throttle bodies to keep belt dust out of the engine. Also, the low pressure fuel pump under the engine is in a bad spot and it doesn't last there -- which can cause serious fuel pressure problems. Remount it by the battery. Lots of additional info in the Mach forum on dootalk.
Cheers

No bash, just honest opinion: The Mach is a time bomb...a very fast and sexiful time bomb...I know of several that went down here in my area this winter, and these guys are not idiots, they just ride easy like on the wide trails...IMO, you should call Houlton Powersports, an HCS advertizer. They will sell you a NEW F-7 with warranty for less than 6K, shipped to your door.

I have an 06 mach z and i love it! wouldnt trade it for anything. if you dont go with the mach, go with the apex. for the love of god dont go with the f7 or especially not the zr series.

The F-7 is as good a sled as has ever hit snow, don't be a dub. They are sweet sleds if you don't mind handling a wrench to keep the thing tight. Mine has 4,200 miles and has never let me down, not one time. The pipes crack, but that's an easy fix at any metal shop. Mine still pulls 114 on the digital speedometer. Still gets almost 14 mpg if I want to. Still ditch bangs harder than ANY Yamaha ever will. The EFI is bulletproof....For the $$ spent, it's the best deal going...good luck though with whatever you buy...

That machine listed for about $11,749.00 new. Why do you think it hasn't been sold, and why do you think it's dis-counted so heavily? Do ya' think it's because so many low pressure fuel pumps fail, and so many owners are finding kevlar belt material
in their throttle bodies? I have an '07 that sat at the dealers for 41 days, misdiagnosed, finally found to be a low pressure pump, at 580 miles! If I keep it I have to install two fuel pressure gauges, and fashion an improved airbox system. This will probably cost me another $300.00. I don't dare ride it until these mods are done, for fear that I'll end up with a destroyed engine, like many, many others here, and on Dootalk. You can buy what you want, but I wish I had gotten on these sites BEFORE I bought mine. The rare times that you can line up on a smooth lake and dominate another machine at 125, will NEVER compensate for the potential problems you might face. Just my .02, good luck with whatever you buy.

Your sled sat at the dealer for 41 days!!!!! And it was the fuel pump. Get a new dealer. I'm running the original 05 fuel pump in mine, no problems here. It amazes me how people have a lame dealership, and than their sleds a lemon. Not trying to be a dick, but good service is worth a bunch. With any sled, they ALL have issues.3Machs in my group everyone has the original fuel pumps. Stock air boxes, shoot the 06 in my trailer has original plugs, belt and never leaves the trailer.Except when it goes out on the lake or trail. I paid 8500 for my RX1 in 03 when i traded it in two seasons later got 3900!! Sleds depreciate quite a bit if you havn't noticed. But if you want to be THE KING the MACH is your only choice!!!!!

My dealer in town has had to locate 5 MACHS this season for their customers. They just took an 07X in trade on a ZX1400 bike. They've sold 30 Machs since the 05's and can't keep them on the showroom floor. We could turn this into a real pissing match if we wanted. Just sucks it took your dealer 41 days to diognose your sled.
