Well, as much fun as this 120 is, its also a big pain in the @ss too..............

Heres a list of what broke/needs to be replaced after this weekend:

Aftermarket chain tensioner - shot- need to replace (not recmotor, will be getting the recmotor)
Chain
exhaust bracket was broke off and exhaust melted a huge hole in the belly pan
throttle control bracket broke. - i fabricated a temporary fix.

Am I trying to get too much out of this sled? I have done maintenance every weekend on this sled and it still breaking parts.

I realize that my 6 year old is hammering this thing too, so that doesn't help.

The motor seems to be running real hot and after riding long distances, it seems to overheat and lose power/ shutoff. The governor gear is removed.....am I just turning too much RPM now?

The good news is that we got 17-18MPH now, using an aftermarket clutch and gearing change.

Gotta pay to play I guess.............considering a GX200 motor from recmotor for next year.

BTW: Tried the sled with stock airbox instead of velocity stack.............slow. slow. slow ............velocity stack makes a huge difference.

In stock form, there meant to just be cruzed around the yard by the little guys, of course thats not really what most of us are about now is it grinning-smiley-023.gif
Rule 1 in racing, the more you push it, the more stuff brakes. If your jumping it, the stock suspension doesn't cushion things much, If you raised the rpm, vibration and harmonics could be a problem with brackets, reinforce the bracket, brace the header.
I really don't know if your turning to much rpm or to hot unless you have numbers, look to the karting world for deals on used tach/temp gauges, our world changes rapidly so theres plenty of used ones out there, some have memory recall which is very helpful. Try www.4cycle.com classifieds to start, www.badgerkartclub.com also has large classifieds. Try a WTB (want to buy) posting on those.
If heat is an issue cross reference your plug at an auto parts store for a number that takes more heat out, or maybe some more venting under the hood to get airflow, HP is heat.
Honestly these little things hold up remarkably well in Snow X and oval racing, it just takes weeding out the weak parts.
