would like to know what is involved in turning a regular 04 600 into a 660. I have hear lots about them but nothing but the kits to buy. Can I do this without buying the kit?????

I have a Carl's Cycle kit built on a 600. He does an exchange for your cylinders and valves. Valves need to be in good condition. His kit uses the stock Polaris 700 piston so repait parts are easy to get. He machines your head, valves , and cylinders if he doesn't have any on the shelf. Also you get his porting. You can do it yourself but by time you run all of that down you are less money with his kit and his kit really works! You can get away with no case mod by pushing the cylinders as far forward as you can before tightening them down. This enables the piston skirt to clear a small tab in the top of the case. If you have the case apart, you can machine that tab off for extra clearance. Basically a top end swap. He recommends boring carbs which I need to get done. His kit works really well with his single pipe but it will not fit a ProX chassis so run SLP twins for the ProX chassis.

No you cannot. The 600/660 is liquid cooled, the 550 fan is not(obviously).

if you put a 660 kit on do you have to put on twin pipes or could i use my hot seat chubby pipe with stock silncer

You can use any pipe setup you want. I'd bet the HSP pipe loses hp though.

do you have to get the carbs bored with the 660 kit?

You do not have to get the carbs bored but it will add to the whole setup if you do.
