The brother in law called from down on the farm with Bravo problems.

Sled was backfiring and not running.

They found a bared wire and fixed that but it still doesn't run.

They are thinking CDI however there is spark but the spark changes as they keep pulling.

Do cdi's do that.

I was under the impression that the cdi either worked or didn't and that something else is the cause.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like it could be bad connections, or even a wire broken inside it's housing. Could also be a coil breaking down. Yams used to be noted for inside ignition coil failing, but in my experience that usually happens when the engine is hot and in warmer temps.
