It was our 1st time here and getting our last ride in for the season. Good thing because it's going to take me til next season to recover. We arrived at around 8:00 am. It was light drizzle around 32 degrees and very foggy. But we had a good jump on the morning being 1st few tracks. Trails were definately groomed and plenty of snow in most areas to work with. But with the warm temps, the trails aren't setting up well and very soft. The scenery is very nice in this area and if was a clear day I would of got some nice pics. We went 7n with very little traffic to Mount Taber Store. Not a good idea, from lookout on pretty much bare roads. Needed gas and I'm sure there's a better route somewhere else. No open water bars and just one tree down. Not a big deal. Started heading south around 11:00. From that point on..... Hell.....I felt like I was on a mechanical bull...just trying to hang on. The funny thing was, I could'nt believe the amount of traffic going North. At least we had a good run for 60 miles out. These people had to endure those bumps the whole day. Oh well, I still had fun and it's a beautiful area.

Your only mistake was that it was the weekend. Ride during the week and you will easily put on 150 to 170 if you go all the way to the belmont store, good food and a nice ride when conditions permit. My first ride to woodford was about 7 years ago and blew out my rear shock. It was on a sunday!

My guess would be that you rode off from 7n to get gas down in Danby?? Is that were you ran into the bad sections? Someone posted last week and stated this as well.
Joezrevit is absolutely correct. I rode last thursday after work [5:00 pm] - ran into 8 sleds the entire time and it was one of the best rides of the year up there. Pretty darn good for March. Timing is everything I guess.

I must be crazy, but on Saturday I was actually enjoying the bumps. I ride woodford so much that usually somewhere around mid February I start getting really bored with the trails. Once this happens, I start looking forward to bumpy trails because it brings back some of the excitement. I can ride them hard and get an exhilirating adventure that does a great job of compensating for the fact that I've already ridden the same trails a million times.

I hear you there..
last week there were a couple of wide spread rollers over by airport road - kind of fun actually. Supposed to rain tuesday night into wednesday - 47 degrees or so - for the greater capital district. Weather today at noon had the southern green mountains in the pink for sleet and freezing rain. Hopefully get a few more rides in anyhow.

Yeah, that's exactly where we went. I'll have to make my next trip a midweek for sure. I'm all for riding hard but no sled deserves that kind of abuse!

Im kinda the same way. As long as you have a sled that has a rider forward design and you are comfortable with it you kind of have a tendency too look for it. I do anyways. Damats you werent with Jeff were you? I thought his sleds were up north?

No, I was with my other brother. Yeah, I gotta admit sometimes the bumps are fun. I think my ski's were in the air more than on the snow! buttrock.gif

I rode Woodford on Sat. Was the first one in the Parking lot and on the trails at 6:30 with 4-5 inches of fresh wet snow. Did 50 miles out and 50 miles back then left. Experience will tell you if you ride Woodford on a weekend to be done by noon. Had a great ride and alot of fun in the new snow.
