Full Version: Is the phazer too tippy for a teenage trail sled

My daughter is riding a very low mileage 97 Ovation. She is really enjoying it but it fish tails badly. Have a younger son coming up that could ride it if she got a new one. All the traffic on here is about ditch banging, wheelies, mods, and how tippy they are. Would a phazer be a good next step from an Ovation or too tippy, maybe dangerous for a kid?

widen the ski stance, stiffin the suspension and don't worry about it.

If you tip a phazer on the trails, you arn't a very good rider. I have never tipped mine on the trail once.

Depends on how confident she gets when I got mine i took it easy for a couple days got used to the taller sled and then I was always okay. The only time I have tipped mine is doing donuts and catching the track on ice chunks.

All sleds are tippy just as much, you have to filter out the whiners

Although I rarely ride our phazer I do not beleive it would be too tippy for her on the trails. When it is a troublesome sled is sidehilling. My wife dumps it all the time then. But she has had no problems on trails or powder.

I purchased a 2007 Phazer GT as my first snowmobile in January. Being a new rider I feel very comfortable on the Phazer. I'm used to riding a Grizzly 660 ATV and the Phazer doesn't feel any more tippy than that does. My decision to buy the Phazer was based on the economical price and it had the features I liked (electric start and reverse).

summer_sucks.gif Hay guys There is a company that builds a sway bar kit for the phazers. I bought one last year and it made my 07 FX handle like its on rails. No more tippy problems. I know the blogs above pic on riding styles and saying it's not tippy but the truth is phazers are very tippy. This sway bar kit from Schmidt bros motorsports works and if you had one you would quickly feel the difference. I would never remove mine unless I was going to the mountains but I live in MI and I don't own a MTX.

Phazerchick is right spend a little money on a sway bar kit from schmidt bros and it holds pretty tight to the ground.

Why would you remove it if you lived in the mountains? I would be very interested in doing this for my wife to make the ride better but we live and ride in the mountains and have a Mountain Lite?????

Is your last name Schmidt??

My last name isn't schmidt either, but their products are good, and reasonably priced. That sway bar is awesome. It makes sidehilling much better and cornering very flat. It's night and day difference from stock sway bar. You got to ride it and there will be no doubt in your mind. My uncle was skeptical too, until... he rode his 07 phazer with stock sway bar then jumped on my 07 with the schmidt bros sway bar. Now he's getting one.
