We have gotten a shit load of snow this year. Trail are better than ever. Only problem is they are packed down hardder than a rock. My buddies T660 dosent like the hard pack. His temp light keeps comming on. He has 2 picks per rib. What in the hell are we suppose to do in order to ride in these conditions? He cant just pull over, or pull off in the powder, because the snow has enough crust on to that you can walk on it. I hope there is a cure for this, because im selling my ZR900 and buying a T660 this summer.

Thanks,
LimeChild

been running into the same problem this week too. I added a truck mudflap to my flap. It helped but not enough. I'm still burning up. My fathers non-turbo 660 has been fine in the same conditions, he's got a couple more inches of cooling rails and he also has the old-style heat exchanger that my 2 other AC's had in the back by the flap. Why the T660 doesn't have one? no body seems to know. Going to check the autoparts store and see if I can find any sort of mini radiator to tap into the rails in the back with otherwise we're going to plumb up some 3/4" copper pipe in a "S" pattern to add some more cooling area.

I run into this with my 1M on the trails, scratchers do the job well, ski or skid mounted. A few guys sell them on SnoWest

A dealer I know put a tranny cooler on top of the intercooler so the air coming through the hood would help cool the anti-freeze. He plumbed it off the coolant hose that runs to the air intake. I don't think his customer has had any more problems.

I bought a new 2006 T660 and have had running hot problems as well, when travelling slow or hard packed groomed trails. When frozen trails I just leave it at home. The dealer has had no suggestions other than everyone with liquid cooling having problems this year. It did run well when fresh snow or above freezing temperatures to loosen the snow.

Had a good year otherwise so am trading it on a 4 wheeler next week and ordering a 2009 Skidoo 550 fan cooled. Have had enough of 4 stroke, heavy, hard to manouver at times, don't dare get it stuck. Tried studding the track but did little, longer flap helped a little. Agree adding an auxilary cooler of some type is the answer, but I don't want to spend another winter tinkering around.

Ice scratchers.
zr sled head
Ice scratchers (I've got two new sets if anyone needs em).
Can of water wetter
Guy in the ZR forum was making rear coolers for em / pretty sure they'll fit the 660 as well.

what i do when i run an M1 is stop and chunk off 4 inch thick slabs of snow crust and fill up the rear where the gas cans sit.....pack up snow on the back and it will work....when it melts.....do it again
