I have some questions regarding the fst's. I currently have a very fast F7 (when it is running) and am looking at buying a four-stroke. I think it is time to go four-stroke as I am getting sick of rebuilding 2-strokes and the problems they have(Ski-doo,Arctic-cat,Polaris). I am looking at either an apex or the fst. I always had polaris's until I switched to an F7 in 2004. I was wondering first of all would you buy the fst again or would you buy something different? How is it on the trails and in the twisties, can you really drive it and push it hard or does the weight become a factor? What kind of topspeed are you getting? I see some are only getting 90-100 and others are getting as high as 115-118mph, what are you guys with the faster ones doing to make them faster?(clutching, gearing, 10tooth drivers??) Which model would be better the switchback or the short track 121".(I drive mostly groomed trails with a fair amount of long lake running.) Does the switchback have alot less mph on top than the 121" track? Basically what I want to know is can I drive this thing as fast on the trails as my F7 and have close or near the same topspeed(110-118mph)but with the reliability which the 2-strokes don't have. Thanks for any help.

I have an o6 FST classic, & so far, its been ok. they do have some issues. Make sure all of the updates have been done if you get a used one. Some ppl have had some major clutch issues. I haven't had any trouble with mine, but my belt did blow at 500 miles. I don't think you'd really notice the weight difference. I've heard that the M-10 suspension slows them down on top end, but mine has an m-10 & I got 103 mph when I opened it up. I'd trade a few mph on top, for a nicer ride any day. I have plenty of traction with the 128 inch track. I play in the drifts a lot & have never gotten stuck.

I have an 06 FST switchback and I love it. Top speed as to the Speedo was 108 MPH on a lake could have gotten more out of it but ran out of lake. IF you are buying a 06 sled make sure you get all updates, BUT I heard that the 08s are an awesome ride. Me personally will buy another FST but am going to wait till 2010 to see if they come out with a bigger four stroke with bigger HP.

plenty of power, stay away from the m10, though. It really does rob a lot of top end. good handling sled, but stay out of the powder, the nose is too heavy.

The nose of mine doesn't seem too heavy when I hit the powder. It actually seems to come up pretty easy... maybe its all that weight I dropped when I put the SLP silencer on it.. :-)
