I'm thinking about getting one of those new doo's. It will be an e tec 600 but I dont know if I want short track or renegade. I am a trail rider first but once in awhile like to get in the fluff. I'm not as daring as I used to be but like to have fun still. How is the renegade on packed groom trails and the twisty rough ones to. I have always had a short track but never a doo.

I would go with the short track, I do 80% on the trail, but when i what to put it in the powder she float and flys. I find u can do tighter curves with the short track. Hope this helps!!

I was going to buy a Gade in 2005 and passed for a shorty REV. Last year I had myself convinced I was getting a Gade XP and when it came time to order I went with the 120" XP. I think the difference in price between the two was only $200 when I ordered, non issue. I like the concept but just can't seem to pull the trigger...90% of my riding is on trails.

We test rode the 09 E-tec.., we are also 90% trail riders...The day we rode the new sled the trail had hard finger drifts on it...after we returned to the Doo shop, we test rode a 08 Gade...In our opinion the Gade rode Much Better than the short track TNT...we were sold in 10 miles...our next sleds will be the E-Tec Gades....

Once you have a gade, you will probably never want to go back to a 120-121 sled, the ride and drivability is just as good, probably better than the 120. you maybe lose 2-3mph over the 120, but you will get there quicker with the added track and gearing of the 137. that's all i'll have from now on!!

I totally agree with "Themaninblack" bought an 08 Gade this year and would never go back to a shorty. 98% of my riding is groomed trail, northern Ontario and Quebec. High speed trails and the stability is amazing. The hook up and braking is awesome as well as a smoother ride in the stutter bumps. When you get it set up right tight and twisty is no problem you can stay with the shortys all day. No problem getting up over 100 quickly, you will beat the shorty off the line with more hook up but they will get a little more top end in the long run. Buy one and enjoy.

Last two sleds have been gades, never go back to a shorty, even on trails gades suck up the stutter bumps better and no problems throwing the sled around.

Wow I did not expect this topic to be so one sided. I am glad to here I was leaning towards a renegade but needed solid feedback, thanks guys And I think I will be a doo guy come spring time. One more question, is the 600 etech enough motor for a 136 track?

I've had three crossovers...04 Warrior, 06 Renegade 800 X, 08 Renegade X XP....In 07 i had the 600 SDI shortie in the X and went back to the Renegade this year. The ONLY time i feel the 120" is better in when we are riding the VERY TIGHT trails and it's Sunday with 3' or bigger woops....I don't know about you, but i hate riding in those conditions anyway!! Doesn't matter what you ride i'm headed back to the truck.
I'm looking at another Renegade this year...

Yes, the 600 will turn the 137" track with ease. You can't really tell the difference between 120" and 137". It's geared for the longer track.

I agree 110%. I was asking the same question two years ago... (short or long track??). I broke down and bought the long track and I dont think I will ever own a shorty again. I love it. It bridges the bumps and holds the ground alot better. It took a LITTLE getting used to the cornering, but after a couple hundred miles, it was like my short track as far as cornering.
Go for it, you will not regret it.

Whats the difference in the whoops? Does it ride harder or is it just too much track to throw around?

i rode the 121 -2009-600 etech last night it has just as much power as my 08 800 gade will have no problem powering the 137

The longer track bridges the bumps much better, all them shorties out there fall into them. Ride one and you'll never go back. You can throw that XP 137 all over the place.

I have been debating this I like to jump my short track but I also like to play in the deeper snow.

The only drawback is really tight twisting trails that go on forever. The Gade will be better in every other area. My 08 600 SDI is every bit as fast as my 06 800 Gade was, except for it does everything a little easier because it is so light. I use half the oil and get 3-4 mpg better with the 600 SDI. If you pick your race, dead stop to no more than 90 it will run with 800's all day. Ripsaw track is excellent and even better with studs. Handlebars are perfect except the bar ends should be done like Cats. Footwells are much deeper and easier to stretch out. I would like the opening to be a tad smaller so I could hook my boots like my old Indy days. My only other gripe is the belt adjustment just plain sucks compared to the old setup. The tool slips out easy when you turn it and because the outer ring is plastic it is starting to get tore up a bit. I will put a Supreme Tool adjuster on to cure this problem. By a Gade and you will never go back.

I liked the longer track I had last year and it worked really well with the 6.9 pilots
