I have an 06 Turbo ST going in the dealer again for a chaincase upper bearing failure and leak. The first one happened last year at 1100 miles in the Keewenaw on a cross country trip and now this one after 1200 miles. Bad vibration at 45mph plus. Anyone else have this problem and if so what is needed to correct this problem? Jackshaft replacement? Chaincase alignment? Anything will help. I have the same setup in a Sabercat 600 with 5500 miles and never put a bearing in it.
Thanks,
Greg

I had the same problem. After three bearings, the dealer found out the brake disk had a taper to it, the taper rode against the chain case, which put a groove in the disk, which left a sharp edge, which dug into the bearing and seal. The cause was discovered after I traded the sled off.

My husband thinks my sled ('06 T660 ST) has a leak in the chaincase. We'll taking it to be looked at shortly.

I havn't had bearing problems, but your vibration could be the secondary. My 05ST has a belt squealing noise at about 20mi. per hour and vibration over 40/45 . I finaly took the secondary off my wife's 660 and tried it, noise and vibration gone.

Well
So far the dealer found another cracked jack shaft bearing in the chaincase. I mentioned the play in the secondary and the dealer said it was normal. I have Arctic Cat looking into it. i don't want to be doing this again next year.

My dad has the same problem, 06T660 Trail. First time all the oil leaked and we didn't notice so it ran dry and squeeked both bearings, replaced under warranty. It still has a slow leak, we fill it to full (what's with these dipsticks by the way? Very hard to read as they rub while being removed and you can't see it clearly). So we fill to to full, put on about 100-120 miles, and its on the fill line again, not empty but needing a top-up.

I heard the problem is more common in the 06's. I have an 05' with 5,500 miles and never had the chaincase apart. Only changed oil yearly. Cat must have changed suppliers or lost their quality control department. This reminds me of the mid 90's cats. Leaky chaincases were a way of life. Too bad they went back in time.
