just curious what the difference was, and why it is more advantageous?
Thanks

the gt is more of a groomed trail sled not set up to be ridden on moogles more of a relaxation sled but you can set the suspension fairly easy
the fx is more of a rough trail sled made to be ridden on moogles a little jumping maybe, less of a relaxation sled made to be played with and you can set the suspension just like the gt

GT is not a bump sled, but does handle stutter bumps and anything up to about 15-16" really well. It has a big windshield and the air deflectors so it will be a warmer ride. I think the gearing is slightly different between the two also.

Narrow it down,
FX= Bumpy Trail/Off Trail Sled Takes More Abuse.
GT= Soft Trail

I own a Phazer GT, well really my wife does.
She loves it, great wind protection for long haul riding.
The suspension components are the main difference as well there is 1 tooth lower on the small sprocket.
This makes the snowmobile of the FX accelerate a bit more quickly but the GT has more top speed. I have had the GT on a lake going 135 km/hr according to the dream meter. The new 2008 GT has the piggyback twin clicker shocks which are fully adjustable unlike the 2007 GT's shock.
Yamaha Motor Corp. has also come out with a rear skid upgrade for all models of 2007. If you complain to your dealer enough get himor her to look up the upgrade. I had mine installed with no extra charges. I knoe Gary Franklin has put them on his customers sleds with Yamaha Motor Corporation picking up the tab. It makes a huge difference.

Basically, the FX is a rough trail/ditchbanging sled. It has a low windshield and comes with GYT-R remote reservoir clicker shocks. This sled is designed more for someone who likes to attack the bumps and rides at a fairly high rate of speed.
The GT is more of a touring sled. It has a tall windshield to protect the rider from the wind and it has shocks and springs that are slightly softer than the FX, so it gives a smoother ride. Also, the GT sits a little bit lower than the FX, so it corners flatter.
Personally, Im a pretty aggressive rider and I really liked the Phazer GT that I test rode a couple years ago. So, dont think that the GT is a sled for an old person who rides slow all the time. That sled will get up and go and as long as you arent a snocross poser, it will do anything that you need it to do.
