Hey

I have a 2000 MXz 600 that just blew my whole motor apart and needs a completely new motor. I was wondering if i found another crashed sled maybe an 800 would the motor fit into it. I'm trying to find a zx chasis 800 that is crashed. I want to update the suspenion as well with what ever sled i find. I'm just wondering if i would be able to do it. I think i could since there is pretty much no differences between the 600 and 800.

Thanks

The 800 will bolt right in, but you may run into some issues with the computer.

I had a 600 still in it. Still planning on doing the swap to an 800

If you find donor sled you are all set. Swap everything right over. I have no idea about the cdi units, may be the same may not, I don't know. Also if get a sled with dpm you'll have to swap over all electronics. I think 6, 7, and 8 all had 40 mm carbs, you'll need to set carbs up with 800 jetting, clip position, etc. I would try and find motor with flatslides that came out in '01, they are better on fuel and have a lighter pull with crisper response. Also you will need to set your clutching up to the specs of whatever motor you switch to.

If you find a donor sled, easy to just swap over....but don't be discouraged if you just find a motor. Go to swap meets, dootalk, and ebay and you can track down all the parts you need.

If it were me, I'd just put the money into your 600. Get it rebuilt, have it ported, find a nice single pipe, and get it clutched and jetted right. I had a '99 zx 600 with that motor and with a little work it goes right along. I then had a '01 zx with the 700 and that was an awesome motor....bulletproof and very fast. IMO Doo 800 of that era isn't any better then 700.
