Anyone have one of these? What line do you use? Anybody know how to work the settings? There is an outer dial and a inner dial you can turn, the outer goes to 10 and the inner has free then 3 areas you can turn it to.
Help me out, last baitcaster I had was back in the early 80's that my grandpa gave me.

well im am going off how my muskie rods work...same set up as a baitcasting rod pretty much. on my rods, there is a dial to set the speed of the line going out in relation to how heavy the "bait" you are using. This helps with those nasty back lashes everyone haits to untangle. easiest way to set that dial is to point the rod off the boat with the spinner, bucktail, pastics, surface bait whatever your using and turn the nob untill it the bait goes down slowly and takes some line out on its own, you want the baits weight to take line out just by how heave the weight is. make a couple cast and make sure it is set right, once you do it a couple times it will become very easy to set for other baits. as for the other dial, I would assume it would be something with the drag for when you have a fish on and it is taking line out. These new rods are getting to many features. As for line that depends on what your using the rod for. Asking what people use for line is like asking someone what bait to use when they are fishing.

what he said was great, but just a few pointers:
for starters, keep the setting on 10. this means there are more breaks on, which reduces back lashes. As you get better, turn the dial to a lower number and master it on that setting. You will become comfortable with a certain number break setting and it will be scond nature. Also, keep in mind that after every time you change your bait, you need to adjust your spool tension. Too loose and you will spool all to hell. I make it a habbit to check spool tension after every time i change my bait, and set my breaks for the conditions. Keep in my not to get frusterated when you backlash. Everybody does them sometimes, even the pros. I usually stop my spool with my thumb just before the bait hits the water, but it doesnt always works. Keep in mind when casting into the wind is risky. Goodluck with your baitcaster!
