Full Version: What's a good 2-up from Ski-Doo?

Hi. I'd like to see what you SkiDoo guys think about a 2-up ride. I've seen the SkiDoo Legend out on the trail, it's a good looking sled. I'm not looking for performance, just a reliable 500 or 600 size, doesn't matter if it's fancooled. I'd like to be able to get one at an auction or a dealer as a left-over....something with zero miles though. Couple Doo dealerships not too far from me.

Anyone got any suggestions for a 2-up? Really just something reliable....I'm looking at Cats, SkiDoos and Polaris. I've had bad experiences on other types of Yamaha recreational vehicles and I won't even consider one of those...the other 3 are game. Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

If your looking for a new non current, nows the time to shop for a deal. Dealers are looking to clear any stock so they won't have to carry
them all summer. As far as 2 up's goes , check out the Skidoo GTX 550 fan or 500 SS ( 600 ) engine. If you can swing the extra $$$$
the 600 SDI is a fine engine. You can also look at the GSX series and add the 1+1 rear seat option. Your dealer will fill you in
with all the details. It's not a long track, but you have ability to remove the rear seat when you want to go solo riding with the boys.

Hope this helps and good luck with your purchase.

I do appreciate it. Is the 500 SS a liquid cooled? Also, does SkiDoo have mechanical reverse or the electric reverse? I like the idea of the removable seat.....more versatile.

The 500 SS ( 600 ) engine is liquid cooled and produces about 105 H.P. All 2 stroke powered Skidoo's use the RER ( electronic reverse )
Only the 4 stroke powered sleds use a mechanical reverse setup as you cannot spin a 4 cycle engine backwards.

our 2006 GTX 500ss has been a wonder full sled. No mechanical issues at all. Very comfy 2 uper. Good on gas and oil.
my only complaint is the mechanical fuel gauge hangs up on occasion. Other than that, this is a very solid sled.
