I would like to take a minute to tell my story from the weekend. I am not an asshole or a criminal but 7 years ago for 30 seconds I was both.

In 2001 I left a bar with some friends. I was lit and feeling good. I thought jumping up on the hood of a car and doing a little dance would be funny. Well at the time it was, but that time was short. A cop saw the whole thing and i ended up with a summonds for criminal mischief. The next morning i woke up hung over and feeling like a complete ass. The next 3 months leading up to my trial was murder, it hung over me like a dark cloud ruining every nice thought i had. I had never been in this type of situation and was worried sick about it. I could only imagine that this was going to cost some amount of money and all would be forgiven. As it turned out I pleaded gulity and paid $2000 in restitution which i was happy to do. I screwed up and wanted to put this behind me in the worst way.

Since then i have been to Canada snowmobiling 4 times every winter for the last 6 years with out any problem getting in. Until this weekend........... We were asked the normal border crossing type questions and then we were asked to come inside and meet with an imigration officer, something we had never been asked to do at a border crossing. So the 4 of us went in with our passports thinking this would be no big deal. Wrong. As it turns out I have a criminal record which will be with me for another 3 years for my little hood dance. I have the option of applying for an APPROVAL OF REHABILITATION along with $200 for a processing fee. SWEET DEAL. I asked if i could pay up on the spot but that WAS NOT AN OPTION.

Having to tell my 3 friends that the 3 day snowmobile trip is screwed because of something stupid i did in 2001 was a real pisser. I was sick about it . My friends were aware of the hood dance, 2 of them were there that night. All of them took it pretty well and we disided to ride in the states. What made no sence to me at all was each of us averages between $600-700 between trail passes ,food & lodging spent in Canada. Letting me in and telling me to get APPROVAL OF REHABILITATION for the next visit would have made more sence.

The fact that there is nothing on my record prior or post to the hood dance it should have been apparent that i have been REHABILITATED.

I love the country of canada and i love to snowmobile in that country. I will apply for APPROVAL OF REHABILITATION and see if i can continue to ride where i like it most.......... Canada.

Boy does this suck. Thanks for the rant.

My friend had the same problem this year.

We did the International Snowmobile Festival Madawaska Maine into New Brunswick.

All US sledders had to go inside CA customs and show ID.
1 guy had a DWI from NY 5 years ago and the same issue came up.
They allowed him to pay the fine with a credit card $200.
They said they perfer mastercard. Service with a smile while they fuck ya.
Visa was good for 30 days.
They also said that if you contact to the US consulate in NYC, you can fix it.
It seems that a bunch of guys had to do the same thing that weekend.
They made a ton of money!
They let you on your way if you paid.

Don't think for one minute that the US customs is any different.Well they are, worse!!I smoked a joint in grade 10 highschool dance and cannot get into the USA.Your past president admitted to smoking dope!Oh yeah,he didn't inhale!I have a pardon in Canada that means nothing to the USA.
