Hello! I just wanted to post my weather opinion for you to safely plan your Saturday. I am looking at a high probability of freezing rain from a (St. J. - Montpelier) line North. Also the higher terrain Central & South. I am concerned about heaving icing due to a warm atmosphere and cold surface temperatures. There will be a large, cold high pressure system to the North in Canada allowing for cold air to remain in place and move South as rain occurs. The rain will freeze on everything...trees-powerlines & roads. Temperatures will go above 32f in the lower elevations from St. J. - Montpelier South with just rain. About 0.5" liquid expected. The wind may gust to 40mph for a time Sunday Morning. Be careful! -Gil

Cold rain won't melt much snow especially if it gets an ice coating first. Trails will just be bullet proof agian. Hopefully we get a few inches of snow at the end of it. Probably melted more snow today with the sun/wind and 40F+ temps.

I lost about 2 inches today with the bright sun and temp of 46 for a high,..still plenty of snow, but trails were mushy today in the sun

Just put on a little under 100 miles today Lyndon/Brighton/Newark/Burke trails ane they were beautiful.. there's a lot to be said for good gropoming staff and medium traveled trails this week!

Our rides didn't feel slushy at all that I can recall except for high traffic (IP).

Call is on for now for NEK race (even have looked at Gils info). Hoping for best -several recent nasty weather systems have "missed" us recently and we're hoping for the "Race God's" to watch over us again.

Happy trails!

You are the most accurate forecaster I know. Ice is forming on the trees as I type. glare.gif
