The Colonial Inn, Rte. 26-north of Rome, NY, is closing it's doors FOR GOOD the weekend of April 5-6 this year. It always was a great watering hole where you could get a hot meal, warm up, but most of all...Park your trailer! There's a "Rite-Aid" drugstore going in, the trail will have to be re-routed. Unsure how much parking the Polaris dealer located behind there will be able to handle next year.

Last I heard, the owner got an offer too good to refuse. He plans to open another place somewhere in Rome but I don't know much as far as location or anything. Big bummer for sure. I've been eating there for almost 20 years. I used to live about a mile from there. I eat there all the time during the snow season too. Good stop for lunch before heading up towards Penn Mountain.

Sad news for sure. Alot of us locals depended on the Colonial for Sunday afternoon "church". Looks like we gotta find another place to worship!
