Okay here goes...I am definetly buying a new ride this year and have been saying for a couple years that my next sled would be a 4 stroke. Well here I am and I need some help with some real world experience...I am torn between the Z1 LXR and the Z1 Turbo LXR...I am coming off of a '03 F7 SnoPro and I absolutely love the deeper lug track on the trail...thing is rock solid no sway at all, and of course the little 700 speaks for itself in terms of power. I mostly trail ride and hit a few open fields and a pond few and far between, my mind is telling me I'll be fine with the Z1, but theres that devil on my shoulder thats saying I'll be missing the power that I was so used to. So I am turning to the guys/girls who actually are riding the Z1 and am looking for their perspective on the motor...I have ridden the twin-spar chassis and hands down it the one for me so I already know about the ride and handling aspect of it. With the pricing I have gotten so far the price difference between the 2 is minimal since (going by Cats website) the Trubo LXR has a 1.25" track and the Z1 LXR is only a 1" and I would need to swap that out so the difference has shrunk even more...I kinda know I don't "need" 180hp to trail ride, but its that handful of times when I hit the lake with the boys and am playing catch-up. I am also a little leary on buying a first year motor, though I have had zero issues with the F7 (rare I know)...Alrighty hit me with what you got...I'm listening.

I am going with the spring order TZ 1 Limited Edition ~ Black and Copper paint. the only extra that I will add is mirror's! I do not need the 177hp either, but it will be nice to now that it is there if I ever do. Cat had really very little trouble when they went from the 4Stroke to the T660 and what small problems they did have at least my dealer was very helpful.

I ride with a 03 f7 and it waxes my but all the time. it all depends what you are willing to give up..if you want a smooth ride go with the z1 but if your loooking to stay up front you might want to look at a crossfire or ?...1.25 ripsaw nothing less...as for 4 stroke mine gets 13 or so but I ride it hard..I thought to that 4 stroke was the way to go but the new 2 strokes are worth a look

I had an 03 F7 till this season when I picked up an 07 Jag.
The Jag is enough for me at 125hp. It is heavier but its the best sled I have ever owned and I have has 14 new Cats. I am 52 and getting senile....lol

Take a look at my posts in this forum, under "$10,000 and I am not happy". I now have almost 800mi. on the Z1, and the power has improved some. I actualy like the low end grunt. Midrange and topend are no were near my F7 however. I saw an indicated 99mph on a long plowed ice strip last Sun. Raced a 07 Ski Doo 500ss (600 motor). Who ever got the holeshot won. I think you will be much happyer with the turbo. If ther was any way I could swing one, Thats were I would be.

That was a good read...I am really leaning towards the Turbo...going to ask the dealer to attempt to find/locate me a '08 Z1 Nightfire Snopro...a rare sled to find I am sure.
