That sucks, I have to work that weekend. If you still have snow the weekend after, I may be interested. I have never rode in April before and would like to do so.

yeah, losing bogey wheels 100 miles from the cabin sure does suck, LOL! it worked out, we were lucky that some other buddies were around to save the day.
my sled is put away and I am looking towards spring, otherwise i would be there for sure! good luck and have fun!

I'm probably going to come up for this ride. But I can't commit 100%, too many variable about work. If I do come up I'd like to spend most of the time off trail, if anyone else is interested in doing the same. I have a 136x1.75 track, usually enough for most UP snow, plus I carry a shovel and bunji when its not enough or when the rider makes an error

Mar 10 2008, 11:31 AM
you won't need a shovel. There will be plenty of snow off trail, but it is pretty set, you won't go down to the bottom unless your a rookie. I remember back in the day riding with my t-shirt on in 46 degree weather jumpin banks behind white pine. That was a blast. I also seem to remember someones viper dropping 18 feet of a burm that same day.............. That's ok, that thing is so ugly, it looks better upside down.............lol

yeah i know, i was just trying to make a joke. I was up last week and was disappointed by how set up it is, could just pick my way thru the trees, not even on a trail and not sink in more than a few inches. Must have been too much warm weather. They really could use more new snow.

If they actually got as much snow as John Dee predicts, the snow would be so deep we'd be riding over the trees instead of through them. Its nice to be optimistic, but come on.

You know guy, your a pain in the ass. No, the trails weren't closed. NW quadrant was open of dane county. Last time i checked, Waunakee has stayed on the same spot on the map, which puts it in the NW quadrant, which was open. Going north from that point puts you in Columbia County to Lodi; which was open............... So what part of that was on closed trails???
Also, this thread was for Baldy to get a ride going up north, not for you to stir the pot...........

if you ignore the crawling over all the ice shoves, it wasn;t bad. that is until we discovered that we were on thin ice. we had no business being out there. when you drive close to a local icefishing and he runs away, you know that we pushed our luck. nothing like driving over open water spots knowing that it is 245 feet to the bottom, LOL! i can honestly say that it will be the last time that i plan on doing that. 15 miles off shore on ice that formed within the last few days = could have been way worse.

When I looked yesterday it was dated the 10th and the columbia cty trails were closed. Depending which trails you rode on you could have been riding on closed trails. I realize you went north. No need to get pissy, I was just asking.
Your the one that stated you rode down here on baldys thread. Anyways he is in MI not wi.

Dude, you weren't askin, you were assuming that i was riding closed trails. I don't ride closed trails. I call before i go out, and indeed, everything i rode was open on that day. End of story.
What's your point about about him being in MI, he's trying to organize a ride with some people in this forum that have been to his place already....... And more are always welcome.....Even you......

We are trying to get a small group together to come up for this. If there is room of course. Our only problem at this time may be finding a four place trailer. A two trailer won't haul three sleds unfortunately. But we are doing our best to be able to come. Looking forward to it. DJ

alright now you sound like my wife lol lol lol
1))) if you ride in southern wis you should be happy to riide even if the trails are closed untill last year i lived in madison area and for 5 years preiviose the trails seemd to be open 1-2 days per year so i understand some people dont have $$$ to come up north so they may or not violate i admit when i lived down there every time it snowed whether the trails were open or not i was riding and i lived in the madison city limits in fact now that i live in michigan i can fess up i was the one who did a hot lap around the capital 7-8 years ago with joe.m lol lol lol and would do it again !!!!(should have seen bus drivers faces)
2))) if you got 3 sleds most guys put one in the back of a pickup nose forward and close the gate looks goofy but works well we have plenty of banks to unload on
3)))yep jhon dee is correct we are to get a nice dump spring snows are the best cause they are always bigger than predicted and no trafic
4))) luv the mud looks like you will have to re winterize that sled RIDE ON MAN
5)))my viper was only upside down off the 18ft cliff to test the strength of the hood and handelbars lol lol(thank god i didnt get hurt)
6))) plenty of room for all i hope red 440 makes it up here as he has posted alot on this thread dont worry about firecat he is a bit whinny but a nice VIOLATOR lol
7)))back to luv the mud i got an extra wheel for your sled i can take it off my kids wagon lwe can make it fit
8))))if you are coming up private message me and will reserve you a room i understand if we melt away but it looks like we are to get a big dump before then so ride on man ride on
