Want to update from my 01 600. I'm VERY happy with the performance on my 600, have it pretty dialed in . Would I be happy with a FST dragon, love the look but they aint cheap! I know they produce big numbers on top but how quick do they get there? Would not be afraid to spin a wrench to get extra performance. Any feedback would be appreciated

My o7 FST IQ LX went 97 mph GPS , with 200 miles on it , after 500 miles went up to 101 mph GPS , hope for a bit more after 1000 miles

just use hi octane fuel

the dragon should be a little better though

I have rode a 06 FST switchback and they are rockets with out a doubt! I love when the boost kicks in!

The '09 Dragon Turbo will have the conventional 121 suspension (not the M-10). It will be stinking fast.

I've had my 06 Switch show an indicated 118mph on the mfd. Not too sure of the accuracy, but it was well into triple digits.

I am now geared down to go with my big track. In a drag race with an open mod 700 Dragon RMK (twins, built motor, etc...) I could walk away without any problems. We both had a top speed of around 87-88 (more than enough with that big of a track). I should note that this was on a hardpacked road, and the 700 did have a superior track for the surface (155" finger track). I could still waste it. The 700 could get me right out of the hole by about a sled length or two, and then it got ugly for him and there was nothing he could do about it. When we were done playing around he said that it was actually pretty easy to tell when I was coming around him, as he could just hear me dip into the turbo and then I'd go flying by.

It took me a while to get my rear suspension set up so that I could ride the thing. The skis were always off the snow if I was even remotely into the throttle.

I have an 06 fst switch and its very fast out of the hole and all the way up to 100 mph with a top end of 115 so far. I have ridden both the switch and the 121 track fst classic and the switch performs better out of the hole with minimal setup work because of the 144 track and the lesser angle of attack that the track has.I have not had the chance to set up a classic but i know they have the ability to be a very fast sled but i think it would take a very aggressive track and a lot of studs to get it to hook and go. I have read comments from others that you can be cruisng 55 and hit the throttle and it will spin until 70. My switch spins on the initial take off but its no worse than the other sleds that i have raced, Im usually the one that gets out of the hole first. Ive also found that if they do get the hole shot i always overtake them by about 50 or 60 mph and after that its se ya later. Ive only lost one race and that was when i first got the sled and it wasnt set up for me correctly. Lost by about two feet his skis were about that far ahead of mine. Now after i set up my sled now he wont race because he rode with me one day and he knows its a lot faster now.Anyway to the important stuff 2000 Thundercat stock 192 studs lost by 2 lenghts, f8 4 lenghts, any 800 or smaller without a ton of mod work will loose, 07 Apex GT lost by 3 lenghts, zr 900 even he wins some i win some depends on who gets out of the hole with less spin, 800 xcr stock lost.
I have read other posts from guys that ran 1000 feet with the FST's and are getting 101 to 103 consistently. Compare that to any other STOCK sled and i think you will be impressed. I am very happy with mine.
Hope this helps

They made the FST IQ in an iq skid in 07 and in 08.

The FST classic is a 128 M-10 not 121

I race an 06 fusion 600 in the 05/06 grass season and a 600 IQ cfi in the 06/07 season and this past season I raced a FST Switchback and I am trail riding an 08 FST Dragon. On timers the fst kills both the fusion and the IQ. I love the dragon on the trail as well!!! You wont de dissapointed!

Is it true the 08 FST's have 20 more horsepower the first 6 seconds of throttle? I have a buddy who told me that with his 08 FST switch that it has 140HP but 160HP the first 6 seconds of takeoff. Any thoughts?

The new 08 FST's, or any of the 06/07 that have been updated, allow the engine to run an extra 4lbs of boost for 4 seconds(roughly 155hp) under hard acceleration. There are limitations to it as well. It only works if accelerate from less than 6000rpm I believe.

Actually, it was my understanding that the overboost will reset every time the sled drops below 6000 rpm's. So if you smash the throttle from the line and hold it, the boost will work for 4 seconds. If you let off and drop below 6000, the overboost will work again. This will work even at trail speeds. My 2 cents

Its my opinion the FSTs performance has been under reported to the max.
Ive owned 3 FSTs and they have all been impressive great sleds.
FWIW: After my second season on my FST SWITCHBACK I can honestly state this.

Ive raced a hell of a lot of sleds in the last to years. To date I have never had any "STOCK" sled ever stay along side me. Regadless of year ,make ,or model.
I holeshot the hell out of them and they cant overcome the midrange the turbo provides.

These last two seasons have been fun to say the least. You wouldnt believe some of the comments from Apex ,TCat, Mxz, owners after they see what happens when they line em up with the FST.
Complete astonishment. They simply cant believe it! Its been priceless.

He speaks the truth. I have an 05 900 that runs very well and my buddies 08 FST SB spanks me.

The FST's are rockets.

I'm snowchecking an 09 FST SB!

Is there anyway to keep the boost in the overboost mode? Can you put a manual boost control on the FST's? And how much boost do they run in stock form?

The ECU monitors the pressure levels so without some kind of aftermarket system you cant. I'm sure there is ways to trick teh system but then you would need to put an adjustable regulator on it. No easy way around it yet...
