Full Version: Removed Governor gear

Well took the time to pull the motor on the 120 and remove the plastic governor gear before it became a problem. Surprisingly the gear was intact and not damaged. smiley-faces7.gif

Anyhow, removed the gear and put the motor back in. The sled definitely pulls more RPM's now and is even faster than before.

Whole job took about 2 1/2 to 3 hours, but I had help.

Wanted to shout out to Shawno for sending me the pictures from when he did his, it made my job alot easier.

Also, I wonder if I am actually over-reving the motor now as my son claims he gets more speed at about 3/4 throttle instead of full throttle?

Lastly, I noticed that the exhaust is getting so hot on the sled, that the inner bellypan has melted - I need to make a better exhaust shield or get a different pipe that has more clearance than stock.

This sled is a pain in the @ss and a blast all at the same time! My son loves it!

Your welcome.
Unless you have champ valve springs I would not worry about over revving it. The valves will usually float first.
What color is your plug? Might it be running real lean?
