Well this summer is as good as any to get away from home and get some work experience out west. What better place than AK?
I got to school at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and I'm a junior majoring in Wildlife Management. I would like to find some outdoor related work. I spent the last 2 summers as a field tech on a black bear research project. I have checked out the CIAA (cook inlet aquaculture) internships, but I'm not sure I can afford to work a summer without pay. I know it would likely be expensive to find housing and pay for all the bills and whatnot, but I would still come out on top (hopefully lol) and it would be a great thing to write down on a resume.

So, if anyone has any contact info on any type of outdoor or fish and game/usda type work they might know of, I would really appreciate it if you could point me in that direction. Keep your eyes open and let me know if you come across anything.
Thanx fellas, and enjoy all that snow! Here in NH we're having one of the best winters I have seen!

google as much as you can, there are ALWAYS jobs up here in the summer. Keep looking you'll find some!! I grew up in Maine, on sebago, and rode rangely alot. Went to school just down the road from UNH went to Daniel webster in Nashua, my girlfriend went to UNH, I know the road well between those 2 schools!!
I'll keep an eye open for ya! good luck, If ya make it up this way, give me a holla, there are plenty of HCS people we could get together and give ya a taste of AK!! We tend to throw a pretty good spread for dinner around here, just ask sircatchalot(he helps alot!)

There is tons of seasonal work up here. Down around Homer where I live you can take your pick from everything from commecial fishing to working at any of the lodges to areas in your field. Its always fun to hook good people up when they come up here for a working visit.
good luck and stay in touch

Do you like fish?? Here is more fish than you can shake a stick at. I grew up on the Cape in Mass and spent summers working on lobster boats out of Milbridge, ME. Check out the seafood industry. There is land based and sea based processors. Expect to work hard and smell like fish for a couple of weeks after your done. In Maine we used to say "The Lobsterman didn't die, they just smell that way"
