Just wondering if any of you FST owners ever looked at your boost gauge in your speedo screen when you are running wide open. The reason I ask is mine after the over boost, the gauge drops down 1 or even 2 bars? Does not seem to be running as fast anymore.Could this be why? Also at idle the boost gauge flickers on and off 1 bar. Any ideas guys? Thanks

at idle my boost gauge reads zilch until the sled starts moving...as in hitting the throttle failry quick. other than that it stays full bar at wide open and 3/4 while cruising at 65mph i think.

That little bar gauge on the factory MFD is pretty much just for show.
There is a reason that many of us have put in a manual boost gauge such as a VDO or Auto Meter; you just are not really sure what is going on with the stock bar gauge.

they should call them dummy bars. Do yourself a favor and get a gauge then youll know for sure.

I put a boost gauge in mine. Thought 15 lbs would be enough but over boost is 29.5 lbs. For normal ri=unning it is good runs between 12 to 15lbs. 50 to 70 mph. You know when the over boost hits it pegs out and stays there for a while. Going to get a 30 lbs sweep this summer. The gauge is only 34 bucks.

a manual boost gauge is the only way to go.

I teed into the vacuum line that goes to the blow off valve, it is right behind the intercooler, then i just wrapped the tube in aluminum foil so it doesn't melt, mine seems to work fine, says i get 15 psi when i punch it, then levels off to about twleve.

does it read vacuum as well, or only boost?

I actually drilled a hole into the pipe just after the inter cooler. I get my best reading form there.

I know the boost kicks in when you put it to the bar but, if your going at any speed and just punch it will it boost?

If any of you guys with the manual gauge could do some testing from a dead stop, slow roll, fast rolling start, differant rpms you could tell us alot on how long the over boost works and what to expect.

That information is already available. It lasts 4 seconds when at W.O.T. You can get it again if you go below 6,000 rpm's. You should expect your arms to stretch and then a big smile.

Could anyone post a picture of their install? Very interested in doing this. The stock gauge is really for show, and to watch it you have to be in temp mode.
What about the weather affecting the gauge? Would a VDO or and Auto Meter be ok if your sled stayed out uncovered or got caught in the rain. Sometimes I will back pack on the trail and can't bring the cover. Just wondering what would be best for worse case senario.
