What is everyone averaging for mileage on their tubo 660's.I am not a hot dog just an easy cruiser on the trails and I am not getting very good mpg's.Somewhere in the 14 mpg range. That is almost what I get with my 550 panther. On one fillup I put 5 gallons in my daughters 05 570 and 4.5 gallons in my 660.Most of our driving was in the 25-45 mph range with a couple of 50-60 mph field burps.I love the sled but was hoping for very high teens for mileage to maybe 20.Mine has 800 miles on it.

I don't baby mine and I get an honest 15mpg. Sometimes a little better, but 15 I can count on.

My GF's is all on how you drive it, as for miles per gallon I'm not sure but I rode it once and played with the turbo all day and only got a 100 miles and the last bar was showing. The other day we went out and she drove it and we did 100 miles and I burnt a tank in my crossfire and she still had 1 bar showing above half on the guage. It all depends on how you are with the turbo. Her has only just broke 500 miles.

I only get about 11-12 on most fill-ups. If I cruise real easy, very easy on the throttle, I can get about 14. The problem seems to be the turbo is in boost almost all the time. It makes for instant power with no turbo lag, but it kills mileage. You would have to stay under 5200 (approx) rpm to avoid boost. Try it, that is only about 25 mph on hardpack. I have checked every tank for over 1900 miles and I never got over 15. The mileage was the biggest disappointment I have had, though. It has power, ride, handling, looks, no smell, instant starting, flawless running, blah, blah, and everything else that I like, so I tend to overlook it's one bad habit. I still get better mileage than the majority of sleds I ride with, so at least I don't run out first luxhello.gif .

Ide say with 400+ miles on mine im in the avg. of 12-15mpg depending on how I ride. 12-13 Hammering on it, 14-15 trail riding 30-40mph nothing major.

Im putting the intake on this weekend so ill stop back in and let you know if i see any difference in mpg

You can also try gearing up, it comes with a 19 top, try moving to a 22 or 23 if you just trailing but you will have to go with a 72 pitch chain.

2005 T660 Turbo Touring - 16.8-18mpg range trail riding. One tank that had a bunch of high speed lake riding on it was 13.75mpg.

Actually I was out yesterday with a 06 attack, he weighs maybe 170lbs and has around 1500 miles on his and I'm 250 and this sled only had 550 miles on the 660st and we went 85 miles and I burned 3/4 of a gallon less. We both drove the same and my sled and me weigh alot more and these were speeds averaging 50 miles an hour.

I rode most of this season with an apex and an attak and I had the same results. Im lighter than the two yammie riders but the little 660 has to work to keep up to them and I always average about a gallon less than them. Not great but still good.

i was out with a 07 RS Venture GT, we stopped for fuel,we were both down to half tank....
10 gal on yammie ,i think , 13 on t660...thats what i saw.

depends, I have a candy cane 05' and once I broke 12-1300 miles it got better (from 13.7 to 16) I find the trails dictate mileage more than speed. Today I was up to 16.8! And that was pounding along at 55-60.
I don't think they get the mileage like estimated I really don't see 20mpg ever happening.

Just got my best mileage of 19.3 mpg Friday on my 05 ST with K&N filter, 93 octane and 25 psi of boost, that includes a couple of 105+ mph runs. Trails were near perfect and very hard. My buddies stock 04 Turbo Trail only got 16mpg and he drives like a old man. I'm going to have a hard time selling this sled in a couple years to buy a Jag Turbo, but that is the plan.

Hey. I have a 2006 Cat 660 turbo ST , I'm old and drive easy. I get approx. 16mpg, that's when it wants to run at all. This machine will only run in perfect conditions, powder. The machine over heats when EVERY other machine runs fine. Arctic Cat says it's the "conditions" I have had it back 4 times since Jan. 2008 till now and they can't fix it. I am sick and tired of thier answer that it's the trail conditions when every other sled in the world runs including Cats 4 strokes with out turbo. My dealer agrees with me that it is a under engineered cooling system. Cat will not admit this and step up to the plate. Dealer says he is seeing a lot of this, I'm about ready to take CAT to court. Have tried all the band aids Cat comes up with nothing is working. I have tried to ride 9 times and only been able to 3. I am spening my days to ride , limping back to my truck and fighting with Cat dealer, getting old. ANY one sick of this issue ?

I bet you weigh less than 160lbs? Have you tried the longer rear flap? It keeps the snow in and cools the sled better. My wifes 04 would overheat anytime the snow was marginal. I put on the longer flap and no more problem. Just be careful in reverse especially off the trailer.

Also check to make sure your coolant is not 100% anti freeze. It needs to be 50-50 or else it will overheat. Some came too strong from the factory.

This sounds like complete dealer BS! I have an 04 T660. it has 4000 miles on it, I have ridden in all kinds of conditions, and it has never overheated. It gets between 15 & 18 mpg all the time, and ride it on the aggressive side. I really noticed it getting better mileage after the 2500 - 3000 mark.
If I were you, I would be all over AC to fix or replace your sled. You should not be overheating. On the mileage be patient, get a few more miles on it. They just run better and better.

They have new bearings out now, so once changed should not be a problem.

I'm with dave, 3600 miles on my 04 have seen 20 mpg but usually 17-18 all types of riding
styles and conditions and no overheating. even after an almost 5 miles on a lot of dirt-not
snirt never saw the temp light on.
arcticcatturbo
I have an 04 T660 Turbo with 4700 miles and consistently get 18 + or - a little. Consistent riding 50 to 60 mph will get 20 +. Untill I got 3000 miles or so I only got around 15. hope this helps. summer_sucks.gif

Wife and I both ride 05 ST's and she'll get 1/4-1/2 gal less fule than I will on a fill up. I found that the air temp has almost as much to do with the milage as your right thumb. real cold days at 40-50mph it just sucks up the fuel. I have gone as far as 175mile on a tank one day, and the next day at 125 I was at 2 ticks on the gauge. This was the first year in the four years we have had these that we experienced over heating and it was 2 days after all the rain turned the trails to hard as concrete. We have no studs and my sled is an early build with the short flap. once the trail was ripped up a little we were fine. I found that under 25mph the sled overheat quicker.

Your 07 has the updated motor mounts, my 04 crushed jackshaft bearings about every 3,000 miles, sleds with big torque are hard on the drive train my 900 is on its third driveshaft.
I used to get 12.5-14 mpg on my 04 T660, which is a lot better than the 9.5 mpg I get on the 900, It'll be interesting to see what I get on the new TZ1 Turbo.

MY WIFES 05' 660ST GETS 17 MPG ALL THE TIME AND THE ONLY TIME WE HAD IT OVER HEAT WAS WHEN WE WERE ON THE LAKE WITH BARELY ANY SNOW AND IT HAS THE SHORT FLAP. ITS A VERY GOOD SLED 4000 MILES ON IT AND ONLY THING IT NEEDED WAS AXLE BEARING AND AN IDLER WHEEL ITS ALL STOCK BUT 144 STUDS STILL HAS THE ORIGINAL BELT ON IT. ONLY OPEN THE HOOD ONCE DURING THE WINTER AND CHECK THE BELT.
