I climbed off my viper and finally took my wife's 08 GT out for some field riding. Boy was I disappointed. It takes twice if not three times the distance to turn and in doing so, wonder if I am going to roll it. I tried riding on the side of hills but again felt extremely uncomfortable. I havent' hit the trails with it, but can't imagine taking this sled through the twistys. No wonder why she was so far behind me on our last trip.
I don't know how in the hell you can race this sled, much less ride it.
Now, my wife rides trails. What can I do that would make it less "tippy" and more trail friendly. I don't want to sink a ton of money into it.

get a stiffer sway bar and/or stiffen the front springs for starters. If u wana dump more money in it id deff. say look into widening the ski width or w.e its called. brain fart

I some what agree with you on this, But I do not believe Yamaha had trail riding in mind when the dreamed up the Phazer. It is more of a ditch machine then anything. I ride one and I love it, yes it has some issues, like deep snow riding. I think that can be addressed with some decent skis and not the 5" wide ones they put on them.

Shorten the limiter strap to the shortest position. Soften up the front springs as well as the center spring as soft as they will go without being so loose that they will rattle around. If darting becomes an issue, put on woodys dooly 6" carbides. Do this and it will handle like a different machine.

what do you have for front shocks those arent stock. i feel you need to be able to ride a sled. to get satisfactory results, you need to ride more like quad and hang off. ive trail rode with acouple different 600s and i made believers out of them. in the woods i pull on them and when i get to a field they cant catch up overtime you lose them. one guy was a service manager at my dealer, he new it was me and tried to chase me down. hope he doesnt remember that when i need service lol

Do what this guy says ... it's unbelievable the difference in handling this makes. Not near as tippy on the turns.
Different sled altogether with a little fine tuning.

Everything on this sled except for the blonde came out of the crate. It is a 08 Phazer GT.

The sway bar on the GT models are adjustable. You can make it stiffer by relocating or turning the block around. Find a service manuel and it goes into details on how to do this with the GT model ONLY!

I agree with you. If I hadn't had bought it for the wife I would have tossed that sled in the weeds on the test ride. My wife loves it but she doesn't ride it that aggressively. Tippy and underpowered.
