Full Version: metal in dear box oil

i just bough a 2000 ski-doo with 2000 miles ,and i have lots of metal in the gear box oil?.
i dis assemble gear box ,remove and cleaned all parts,found no wear on anything except the top gear has some wear on the teeth reassemble,freah oil,put 200 miles
on sled,i have metal in the oil again???
anyone outthere hade this problem and solved it??

It's common to have metal in the gearbox , the more miles you put on it the more metal your going to find on the magnet . If the previous owner never changed the gearbox oil , you were going to find a lot of metal .

thanks for the info, if so maybe i'll change gear box oil once a year and forget about it!!
