Well was getting a little crazy tonight on a side hill in some deeper drifts and rolled my sled! Ended up bending my right side of the bars, the handguard mount, and now i'm out of alignment! Kinda sucks, looks like I will be fixing some stuff this weekennd. Anyone got any suggestions on bars that work good, and how to go about fixing the alignment??
Isthatahemi
Well my good friend, it saddened me to hear of your bad luck! However, the alignment usually gets knocked out when the spindles bend. A good machine shop should be able to straighten them both for $50. I straightened one of mine, and put 3000 miles on it, no problem. Good luck and take care!

Can't you bend the handle bars back or are they creased? Alignment should be easy to fix, just get the proper measurements for tow out. Your dealer should be able to provide that.

Yeah I am going to bend the bars back for now, but how do you go about realighning the skis, I haven't really looked to see if the spindles are bent I was in a real hurry last night when I put it away.

I don't know how badly you bent your bars, but it is NEVER a good idea to "bend bars back" to their original shape. Regarding aftermarket bars, I currently run a set of Renthal (7/8" dia.) bars (Renthal Part # 810-01). They are actually for a YFZ450 Quad, but their dimensions are similar to a stock Phazer bar with a slightly higher riser and are slightly wider (simply trim them down). No throttle cable extension needed. As far as your spindles bending, it takes a hell of a blow to bend the spindles in anyway. Check where the A-arms bolt to the bulkhead. If you think its the spindle take both spindles off and lay them on top of one another. They are very easy to take so why not start there. I would still recommend you carefully inspect your bulkhead though! Just my thoughts!!!

tie rods probably bent

Yeah thats what I was thinkin when bending them back, I would suspect they would be weakend in that spot and bend alot easier. I didn't roll it real bad just a real slow roll I plan on lookin at it and fixing it tomorrow.

Buy fat bars, kinda hard to bend those...
seanmurphy26
kinda hard to bend the stock bars IMHO

ive rolled it at least a dozen times sidehilling, and i fell off a 8 foot snowbank and landed on ice and the bars took the blow, no bends, breaks, or out of alignment. so you must have rolled it pretty hard.
RYMANN
No I honestly didn't! more or less just a tip over more than anything. Who makes the fatty bars and how was setting them up with the hand warmers if you did and putting everything else on them???
snowbrat79
Sorry to butt in here guys, fatty bars are sweet! As far as bar warmers you can use the stock ones. Simply take a butane torch and heat the inside of the bar to heat the glue. You will be able to melt the glue without damaging the handwarmer grips. No B.S. here this is exactly what I did when I bent my bars. The only thing is you will have to cut the old bars off about an inch before wire end of the handwarmer grip. This allows the flame of the butane torch to heat the entire length of the bar warmer. Of course you will also have to drill out the rivets in the stock bar. No problem there though.
To test the warmers after you get them off, simply do a continuity test to insure you didn't over heat the grips in anyway! Good luck!!!
