What is the proper way to open and close the side panels? Took the clutch side off and had a hard time putting it back on. Can't seem to get the chain case side off at all without a lot of force and I don't want to break anything. Thanks

Well, the book offers nothing. They sure are a lot easier to get off than on. I have had pretty good luck putting the 2 in the front on first, then the bottom, hold your mouth just right and bend the tab carefully to get the top in.

front tabs first, then line up the bottom and the top tab and push down firmly. it's like riding a bike, once you've done it a few times, it's not that bad

Well, I found an easy way to do the panels. I cut the top tab down a bit, then all you have to do is get the front and bottom tabs in, close the panel, and slide the top tabs in place. Works great!! The maintanance on this sled is a real pain! Can't find the jack shaft zerk fitting at all.

To remove properly, pull the top of panel near rear over the top tab. Then pull the top of panel outward before lifting up. This releases the bottom tabs. Once bottom is out, swing panel out at rear then pull front tabs out.

Hey CDRU, as far as I can see there is no grease zert for the upper jack shaft bearing on the secondary clutch but there is a zert for the lower bearing on the drive shaft. Why did they eliminate the grease zert for the upper bearing? Any ideas??? A few years ago they were drilling a small hole and you could use a pin point attachment on your grease gun which worked fine but I dont even see this any more. In order to preserve that bearing should we drill a small hole in the bearing case and use the pin hole attachement again? I would think this would be better than no grease at all... Any ideas??

A coffee-n-news.gif good sealed bearing will last for years.

If it is a sealed bearing there is no ponit in adding grease in on top of the seal.
