i have an 80 eltigre 6000 and cant get the carbs figured out. It has such a deep bog its not even funny, and then other times it'll run decent, but start backfiring at high rpms. i tryed all different kinds of plugs, and no luck. This sled had a 500cc liquid in it, and then the prewvious owner blew it up and put the 440 L/C in it. I think he might've kept the carbs off of the 500 and put them on the 440. what size carbs were on the 79vs the 80, and would the difference in the carbs cause th eproblem im having. thought it was spark and tryed a CDI, but still acted the same. what size jets should i put in it with the 500 carbs?

sounds electrical. if it was jetting it'd be constant, not a bog, then run decent, then backfire at high rpm's. it may be too rich but it sounds like something else is bad, like the coil, stator, maybe a bad ground or kill switch...

kill switch is unplugged, tryed a CDI, and an ignition, i put leaner jets in it, it did run better, but would only do like 30 mph, then died completely and couldnt even get it to run. Im thinking maybe the timing too??

The 440 used either 34 mm and the 500 uses 38mm. Standard br9es plugs I found were the best in that sled. I had my 38mm's jetted with 350's, had alot of porting but stock pipe.
