Just thought I would annouce a trip we are planing next week if all goes well ?
We are thinking about leaving Edmunston NB go through to Campbelton and across to Pt Le Croix and on to New Richmond for the night Hotel Francis maybe ?

Next day up to the Cash and then onto Murdochville may be the night there or Grandvalle ?

Then out on the TQ5 to Rimouski. Then back down to Edmunston. Something like that anyhow.

If anyone has a trail up-date or any suggestions, we would be glad to recieve them. I have been in this area many times but it has been 3-4 years now and I will have some "greenhorns" along.

Also, keep an eye out for us too. I drive a new renegade 800 X all dark colors. I would like to meet Groomer and the rest of the gang !

Thanks and we can't wait !

We did the Gaspe loop from Pt a la Croix and back on the 11th - 16th.

If you can find somewhere else to stay in New Richmond you'd be better off. We were storm stayed in Carleton and the trails were closed around us . We got stuck on the paved road back to Carleton. When we phoned the Bitch at Hotel le Francis to advise her she said OK, I'll charge your credit card for the 4 rooms you booked anyway. We got it stuck to us for the 4 rooms.

When we were storm stayed in Carleton we stayed at the Baie Bleue Hotel, 482 Perron Blvd. Ph: 1 800 463 9099 Great accomodations and superb food. Other lodging info at www.infogaspesie.com

Hope you have a great trip, ours was a test of man and metal for sure....... but the highlight was to see my friend Groomer again and to share some stories. LOL

Whaler,

We are in the middles of our trip and today north shore picked up 15cm of fresh snow. Shore shore close to 25cm. Trails have been great. TQ 5 around Gaspe north and south to Perce. Hopefully they have groomed by now because conditions where not Gaspe standards.

The Trails in Groomers area were a perfect 10 couls not have been better. 595 and 597 were also in great shape. Rode from Grandee Vallee to Matane today trails were great slow going due to snow.

have a great trip

Thanks for the heads up on the hotel ! I guess we will take your advice. I have also heard of La Pin Rouge. I think it is on a ski hill ?
Maybe try that ? Still not sure where we will stay and what day ? In the past we just winged it and had no trouble getting accomodations.
Thanks for the information.

Cheers !

Thank you for the update ! Glad to hear about the new snow. I think that Wednesday is the big grooming day up there, so you may get great conditions for the rest of your trip. We plan to miss the Perce area and cut across from La Cash to Murdochville and out to the coast from there. Usually the Perce area has tough conditions because of the warmer weather there.
I hope you have groomed trails the rest of the way and have a safe trip too!

Thank again.

Looking forward to next week. I really appreciate the trail updates as they make the whole experince even better. Looking forward also to meet any of the HCS gang too ! Keep the updates coming !

Groomer and all,
Starting our Gaspesie adventure tommorrow.
Here is a rough out of our plans. Sounds like we may cross paths with different groups
We will be a group of 3 (2 quebecers and a Vermonter)
All black Yamadoo RTX (no flames, thank you), 06 Black SD 800X, 08 XP 8X maybe crazy orange

Heading to Riviere de Loup on Saturday

Sunday - RDL to St Anne des Monts on the 5, we will stop at the club house

Monday - St Annes des Monts to Gaspe or Pierce

Tuesday - Gaspe, Pierce to 597 to Murdochville, sentier 8 to relais la Cache

Wednesday - La Cache 595 to Trois Pistoles (will stop at the club house again, for a chance at meeting groomer)

Thursday - Back toward Montmagny

If you see us give a way.

Groomer, I'm assuming that your club house is near the top of 595, Is this correct? If not where on the 5?
Groomer

hi greginvt !!!

our clubhouse is on tq 5 in albertville .it s 60 miles south of matane ,50 miles west of cross point .if you want absolutely to come to our clubhouse you ll have to make a big change in your plans.

but better not take the risk , i can t promise you in advance if i ll be home or not .i can '' play '' with the local trails grooming but not tq 5 .weather decide .

to give you an idea ,la cache is 75 miles east from home by the truck logging road .

must go grooming local trail for about 10 hrs .

Just got back from a route 5 loop all around the Gaspe Saturday and here is my take on conditions:

Cross Point to Matane: Excellent before the weekend, Good after. Grooming once a week.

Matane to St Anne: Ditto

St Anne to Petit Vallee: Fair to Good at best. Trails got ahead of them and have hard bumps that are not getting groomed out. Grooming once a week.

Petit Vallee to Perce: Fair to Poor. Trails are ahead of them, occassional grooming, trails not trimmed back. These clubs need help!!!

Perce to Cross Point: The interstate...great. Smooth hard base and trails stay good, even with use.

My advice is to avoid the northeast and head south on 595 which is always great unless there is a lot of snow.
Whaler
We are heading out Thursday in the morning. Keep the conditions coming in. If you would like to join us on our trek, please contact me and I am sure we can arrange a meeting place !

Thanks

Looks like we are going to be about a day apart on our trip verses yours. We will land in Pointe A la Croix on Friday Morning around 8am. From there we are going east around the 587 to Groomers clubhouse for lunch, then onto Matane for the night. The next day we will do the north shore of the Gaspe and stay at some cabins just past the 597. Then back through Murdochville, La Cache, New Richmond, to the truck.

Well, I am not sure of the snow conditions down your way? Wait until you see what we have here in the north !
The conditions should be great and the temperatures should be good to.

Have a great trip !

Thanks Whaler... Our starting point (Millinocket, ME) has a good amount of cover as well. Keep an eye out for us... an '07 Attak (black and gray), an '07 white Renegade, and an '07 orange Tony Stewart F8. Should be in the Gaspe area (I know... it is a large area) Monday through Thursday... we don't really have a plan... just winging it!

if our paths don't cross... have a safe trip!

To you as well Keith. We are two black renegades ( new ) a mach Z and a yamaha. If you have never been to the Gaspe, you will never forget it. This will be my 5th trip up there. They know how to look after the trails and also the snowmobiler. This is the best place in the world...really.

Have a great trip !

Not sure if we will get down your way or not. We had a few people "wimp" out here at the last minute. This may change our trip a bit?
If we get in your neck of the woods, we will look you up!
I sure do appreciate the trail condition report. You never know what the conditions will be after this weather today. We will leave for Campbelton in the morning and hope to make it to New Richmond by night. Then we are going to the La Cash and onto Murdochville via trail 80. Has anyone heard about the condition there ?

Thanks

We did just that. We had a great day leaving from Edmunston through Moose Valley and to Campbelton. NB Renegade was very helpfull with directions across the river there. We made it all the way to New Richmond. We stayed at the Hotel Francis. A little pricy in my opinion.

Next day we headed towards La Cash. We had about 2-3 miles of plowed road but was snow pacted so not bad. Had lunch at La Cash. Groomer was in from Murdochville and he was sleeping when we were there. We headed to Murdochville. Trail was a bit rough as the groomer looked like he had a hard time of it. We saw a broke down groomer part way through. We thought that this trail hasn't been groomed for awhile as the banks were high and you could see were the groomer was struggiling to get through. We gased up in Murdochville and went on to Mont St. Pierre for the night. Better trails on the TQ 5.

Left there and traveled to Mont Jolie with snow starting. Conditions were getting worse by the minute but made with no issues. We stayed at the Jacques Cartier hotel. Very poor signage for this btw. Storm really starting to hit hard now.

We got up to a lazy start because of the storm. Still snowing very hard. We got underway. Looking to go back to Edmunston. We had trouble right from the start. Because of the drifts and poor visability we got stuck often. We had a short track Yamaha that really had trouble getting stuck ( we have renegades ). We could only reach Rimouski for the night after breaking trail the whole way. We stayed at the comfort inn.

Got up to a nice sunny day but cold. We hoped that the trails would be groomed. We left around 9:30 am and headed for Cabano on trail 548. It was groomed ! We went about 15 miles and met the groomer. Trails had been broken so things were pretty good. We got to the lake and crossed into Cabano. The rail bed was perfect. We stopped for lunch at the Pub Du Lac, not a bad spot really....looks like it was new. Trail groomed to NB border.
Trail from there was not groomed to hotel or anywere else. NB should pick up their socks !!

All in all a very good trip. Trails were good everywere. People were very good and helpful. As a matter of fact we were a little stumped in Mont St' Louis and a very nice lady stopped and got out of here car and gave us directions. Very nice and this happens often here.

Groomer, sorry we didn't get to stop by. I was hoping to do so as I had a easy day for Sunday planned. But as you well know, the storm hit. I am sure you are still going because of that. Maybe next time !!

I would suggest to every one wanting a good trip, plan on the Gaspe. A good number to call for trail updates is 1-877-202-4636. They were very nice and helpfull.

Thanks to all who helped with the trail conditions and suggestions. It makes reading this forum worthwhile !!

I am sure your trails are perfect already !!
There are drifts all over the place. People in the south can't believe the stories that we have about the amount of snow up there. You guys may be able to sled for the whole year ?!

I can tell you that I lot of people are happy that you are on here giving out trail conditions. When you are miles away from the trails your comments are very appeciative and give people the confidence in coming up.
Thanks again for your help.

We hope to get up one more time and try to meet you the next trip.
