We did just that. We had a great day leaving from Edmunston through Moose Valley and to Campbelton. NB Renegade was very helpfull with directions across the river there. We made it all the way to New Richmond. We stayed at the Hotel Francis. A little pricy in my opinion.
Next day we headed towards La Cash. We had about 2-3 miles of plowed road but was snow pacted so not bad. Had lunch at La Cash. Groomer was in from Murdochville and he was sleeping when we were there. We headed to Murdochville. Trail was a bit rough as the groomer looked like he had a hard time of it. We saw a broke down groomer part way through. We thought that this trail hasn't been groomed for awhile as the banks were high and you could see were the groomer was struggiling to get through. We gased up in Murdochville and went on to Mont St. Pierre for the night. Better trails on the TQ 5.
Left there and traveled to Mont Jolie with snow starting. Conditions were getting worse by the minute but made with no issues. We stayed at the Jacques Cartier hotel. Very poor signage for this btw. Storm really starting to hit hard now.
We got up to a lazy start because of the storm. Still snowing very hard. We got underway. Looking to go back to Edmunston. We had trouble right from the start. Because of the drifts and poor visability we got stuck often. We had a short track Yamaha that really had trouble getting stuck ( we have renegades ). We could only reach Rimouski for the night after breaking trail the whole way. We stayed at the comfort inn.
Got up to a nice sunny day but cold. We hoped that the trails would be groomed. We left around 9:30 am and headed for Cabano on trail 548. It was groomed ! We went about 15 miles and met the groomer. Trails had been broken so things were pretty good. We got to the lake and crossed into Cabano. The rail bed was perfect. We stopped for lunch at the Pub Du Lac, not a bad spot really....looks like it was new. Trail groomed to NB border.
Trail from there was not groomed to hotel or anywere else. NB should pick up their socks !!
All in all a very good trip. Trails were good everywere. People were very good and helpful. As a matter of fact we were a little stumped in Mont St' Louis and a very nice lady stopped and got out of here car and gave us directions. Very nice and this happens often here.
Groomer, sorry we didn't get to stop by. I was hoping to do so as I had a easy day for Sunday planned. But as you well know, the storm hit. I am sure you are still going because of that. Maybe next time !!
I would suggest to every one wanting a good trip, plan on the Gaspe. A good number to call for trail updates is 1-877-202-4636. They were very nice and helpfull.
Thanks to all who helped with the trail conditions and suggestions. It makes reading this forum worthwhile !!
