My 97 Formula Z's speedo stopped working. Is this an easy fix? Also wondering if there is anything else to look for? When the speedo quit working on my friend's ZRT 600 I was warned by members on here that it means the jackshaft bearings were on the way out... they were right and we caught it in time.
Does the speedometer breaking on my Doo mean to only replace the cable or could there be something else wrong?
Sled is a 97 Formula Z 583 with about 4000 miles or so.
Thanks guys.

Take the cable off the tunnel from under your secondary. There will be a small key about an inch long. If this key is broken it can be possible that your jackshaft bearing needs to be replaced. If the key is not broken then maybe there was moisture in the cable housing and caused it to freeze and then snap the cable (this happened to me last year).

Speedometer Drive Insert PN.572010100 This is a small plastic insert in the end of your drive axle, it is what the speedo cable goes into, it's not uncommon for them to wear our and stop spinning the cable. If your cable looks ok and spins freely then you need to replace the insert. Hard to see in the picture but it's number 7.

Thanks guys. I really appreciate it. Here's to hoping it is just the cable!

I'll take a look tomorrow.

Did oyu grease the jack shaft bearing lately? like the other guys said you may get lucky and it is the cable but if I where you I would be prepared to have to do the bearing. Good Luck.

The speedo runs off your drive axle, how would back jack shaft bearings effect it? If your drive axle bearing came apart and the axle moved it could shear off the cable.
