A snowmobile dealer told me that if I register the sled in Wisconsin it is cheaper in the long run. My question is can someone from Illinois register in Wisconsin legaly?
Thank you in advance
I live here and all of my toys are registered in Wisconsin. They send the renewals right to my door and we take care of it from here just like any other bill. I also only ride in Wisconsin. If you ride your sled here you must also carry an Illinois registration sticker too. I think they allow the dual registration too.
The Wisconsin DNR web site also allows you to do the registration on-line with a credit card. My tags for the sled I just bought came in about a week, and you can drive on the printed reciept that you print once the registration is complete. Registration is 30 for two years in Wisconsin. I think a trail pass is 18 or 20 this year, and I think it is going up next year. I heard 30-35 dollars for an annual trail pass, that is not confirmed. I also heard, but cannot confirm at this point that if you belong to a Wisconsin snowmobile club you may get a further discount on your registration
PLEASE NOTE * * * * * If you choose to register your sled on line watch what you are doing. The first time I did it I checked the private box THAT IS WRONG ! You want to check the box for use on the public trails. It was a three dollar mistake I made because I was in a hurry.
I hope this helps.
