Covered 968 miles in 4 1/2 days.

Ottawa to Joncah decent running ......snow coverage a little lacking on the tracks around Waltham, Fort Colongue......decent elsewhere.

Joncah / V D'or.....had not been groomed below Kitasack (sp?) for some time.....it's usually great....about a 4 on 10 last week.. hard and rough for the most part until Kitasack. Above Kitasack into V D'or was fine.

V D'or to Clova.....good running except for about 15-20 miles due to fire / logging activity

Clova to Manawaki......1st leg Clova to Club Gatineau.....rough ice road for a good 40-50 miles until the split to Club Gatineau. Club Gatineau to Rabaska was trash......not much snow pretty much all ice that is frozen into nasty rollers 10-15 miles. Rabaska to the Baskatong was decent....no show on the resevoir at all due to rain a couple of weeks ago. Baskatong down to Maniwaki was again decent.

Maniwaki to Ottawa was good except for about 20 miles of road that you have to run fron Danford Lake to Ladysmith as the trail is closed at Danford. Any significant amount of warm weather will wipe out the road (k wood) in a hurry as there is marginal coverage now.

Overall I'd say the trail conditions were a disappontment / fair at best..... hard, tight and rough for about 75% of our loop. Had we know this in advance we would have likely changed our plans / route.

funny what the difference a week makes. pretty much did the same loop a week earlier.. wasent bad execpt around devils mt got my ass beat for 40 miles... had to turn around at black river outfitters because of trail closed. missed the turn at ladysmith. ended up in quyon. the plowed road had good cover of fresh snow, so it wasent bad at all.

Is there anything to stop at in Black River these days or is it just a dot on the map?

when I was there 2 weeks ago the trail ened 1 mile past the black river outfitters place. I talked to him on the lake past his place, he was plowing off the lake to cut his ice blocks. I think its the 311 trail. He said they stopped grooming for some reason and we had to go to ladysmith to get to tq 13 to get back up north to valdor via clova........
