Duluth man dies in snowmobile accident

A snowmobiler was killed when his machine collided with a car near Duluth.

First responders were unable to revive the 25-year-old Duluth man, who died at the scene on a road northwest of Duluth on Sunday afternoon. His name has not been released.

The St. Louis County Sheriff’s department is investigating. The sheriff’s office says indications at the scene are that speed and alcohol may have contributed to the accident.

A snowmobiler who was traveling with the victim was not injured, and nobody in the car was hurt.

This was literally a block from my house. There is no trail close to this location.

Snowmobiles and alcohol don't mix.

The accident happened at 2:17 p.m. on Hunter Lake Road West and Taft Road in Fredenberg Township. The St. Louis County Sheriff’s department is investigating.

Dude! Dont you think that statement is a little harsh. I am sure he wasnt looking to hurt or kill anyone including himself. You can stop and have just one beer and if you are in a accident the press is going to jump all over the story and say that alcohal was involved. Also he most certainly has family and friends grieving over his death and all you can say is "good riddance"? Shame on you!!!!!!

no one has just 1 beer. sooner or later they have more

Grandparents killed by drunk driver
brother, hit by drunk driver, hit and run, was passed out in someones yard, rolled car (dude was doing 50+ mph)
friend, hit by drunk driver, fled, severe neck injuries that last a lifetime.

I think there should be zero tolerance. Whatever the reason, your actions should never be so self centered that you injure others. Drunk driving is serious. Having 1 becomes 2, 2 becomes 4, next thing you know you creme some poor family. They all die, but the drunk lives.

Will it be on his conscience. Will he have to live with it? Who cares, he killed people. And chances are his alcoholic ass will not work a job to contribute to society enought to even partially cover his wake of distruction.

I think 1st dui should be jail, 2nd they amputate your drinking hand, 3rd they just lethal inject your ass.

Yeah, you may feel sorrow. But whats an alcoholic do?

...drink.

I am sure he wasn't looking to kill or hurt anyone, but thats besides the point, what if he was on a trail and ran into a family on sleds and killed someones child or even killed someone in the car!I have a 3 year old son who loves to ride with me!if a drunk ran into us and even hurt him ,he could only hope he was killed on the sled.so sure maybe his statement was a little harsh but I have no remorse for people who drink and ride and take there own lives,so really NO no shame on the above poster!
