So looking for advice. Are there any cons to the Renegade? Should I just stick with an X? Never had a crossover (or a Doo for that matter), any cons in general?

My dad has a 800r renegade. The only con to it I think is in some corners I dont think it turns as good as a short track. It really has good traction though. That makes the brakes work really good.

My last two sleds were Renegades 1.I feel that the sled takes the stutter bumps better. 2. If you do slide off the trail into some deep stuff or a deep ditch while trail goes down the side of a road the gade pulls out effortlessly. 3. Getting her unstuck is easier than you can imagine, you need to do it to believe it. 4. It does push a little in the corners. 5. It is slower, more rotating mass. 6. last one not x, this one is x. The x is alot stiffer, not a little, a lot. Love the bars and seat, need to buy windshield. Shocks are take apart, non x has replace-able not rebuildable. The difference between rebuilding and replacing moved me from the standard to the x package alone.

Never had a prob with any of my Gades "pushing" in the corners. Keep up nicely with my buddies shorty tracks (one a 600 Sabre cat, one a Mach Z, the other an 07 800 Shorty).
Lots of fun in the powder, but then again, my Renegade is an X package...

i have found it does't do anything great(except bumps) ,but it does everything very well.improvements other than the usual stuff(studs and ect),i found that made this the perfect sled are 6.9 pilots w/ 7.5 shaper bars (lots of research),torsion spring spacer(doo talk),and 3.5"pivoting riser have really made this sled fit like an old docksider.

Madcat both are great sleds. The renagade rides great you dont feel bumps at all and overall handeling is very good once it is dialed in. I have been using it alot off trail and its awsome. The 800x is awsome also power, handling, ride like i said both are awsome.

I may not have been clear enough, the push is not bad at all and overall i'd most likely never buy a shorty again. Maybe mine is just slow because it isn't as fast as everyone else is getting? Just blamed it on the long track because i'll beat the same sleds that I loose to depending on the conditions. Sled is still wicked fast and the funest sled that I've ridden.

Read some posts on other sites, everyone was scared about everything falling off the new XP, some have had problems, but nothing as near and dear to what you would have believed reading the net. My wife banned me from using the computer for a week because I kept asking if my driveshaft was going to break....still hasn't, over 1400 miles on it, same with the belt. Only real bitch of a problem was oil leaking from the reservoir (besides the handwarmer issue that just about every XP had), fixed with a new cap and not tightening it so much. I think Justintimemoto had some oil leaking from the driveshaft bearing, at least that's where it seemed to be coming from, not an easy fix, but dealer should fix under warranty IMO.
I've had crossover sleds since 05, also had a Yamaha Vector that year, will never go back to a "short" track ever again....especially in those days of being dumped on with 20cm of snow and the groomer hasn't been out, oh yeah, let 'er snow!!!

Weird... I'd never give up my short track 800 xp for the long track. But I do a lot of play riding.. where the long track simply isnt as much fun.

[/quo I just got my got my gade all dialed in so you could try this, start by losening the front spring just a little. I would think your center shock and rear spring are set stiff. I would loosen each just a little should work good.

X2. Originally, mine was set too soft, so went harder, now the centre and rear are set just right. Remember to do small adjustments, go for a ride, re-adjust, making sure you're riding the same conditions until you have it right!!
Good luck!!

This is my first cross-over - I can say that its a nice sled. Like many other posts - it depends on the type of riding you do. For me - I will go back to the 120. The Gade is a nice over-all sled - but there is no comparison is the tight twisties - you feel the lengh. Its slower on top end - Also with the added length it takes time to get use to mogul hopping - its a very strange feeling. Normally you jump over a rise with the shorty - whereas the gade just keeps climbing...again due to its length.
So my recommendation is if the majority of your trail riding is Candada open wide trails - and some off trail - the go Gade. If you are a corner to corner fan - then go 120 - and get a 1.5 track on it.

This Is my first long track sled, I've always had 121' but my gadeX Is AWESOME on the trails, It corners almost as good as a short track and there Is a lot more positive things about the GADE then a 121' like better off trail, a more stable sled less squirelly like a short track can be, and handles the stutter bumps way better, and with more track on the ground better holeshots, I will probally never go back to a short track!!

You mentioned a spring spacer on the torsion springs, what does it do,add a little more spring tension?? If so i may need some.

This year was my first year with a crossover sled. I bought a XP Renegade 600 HO SDI from Land N Sea Waterbury CT (a great dealer by the way). It exceeded my expectations. Just like any sled you need to adjust the handling but I have it dialed in now. It did push a little but I dialed that out with some front shock pressure changes. I think it is better than my short track on bumpy trails and works quite a bit better off trail. I probably wouldn't go back to a short track.

Land N Sea has one left on thier showroom floor.
