I took out my new ride on it's maiden voyage this weekend. After doing a bunch of preliminary checks, I notice that the driven sheave has about 3/16" of side to side play on it. All my older Polaris sleds have no play. If I run the sled, the driven clutch wants to position itself as far out as possible. Did someone forget to shim this, as I don't believe there should be this much play, or was there a change in how much free play the secondary should have? The sled does have reverse, if that matters. Someone did add spacers or shims to the outside of sheave, so offset might be already correct and shims are only needed to take up the slack.
If it shouldn't have this much free play, can someone advise how to properly measure and shim the secondary for this sled? I assume, once I have the correct offset from the primary, I simply add enough shims to the inside of the secondary to maintain this dimension.
Other than that, I love the sled and the M-10 suspension. My son is riding my old 98, 600 XC and I think my old sled still takes top dog honors. I'll have to try a tank of premium once and see if I can turn the tables. That old XC is a barn burner!!
