Im just trying to get some information of how they compare to eachother.

Which is gonna be better on gas?
Which is lighter?
Which should be more reliable?
Is the e-tec as fast or faster than the sdi?

And any other information anyone can add about these two sleds.

Thanks before hand...

I had a chance to try out the e-tech a couple of weeks ago. A buddy came along with his '07 GSX SDI. Out on the lake in 16" of powder, the e-tech walked away from the SDI and felt more stable and in control. Topped out at 95 MPH in these conditions. I think the lighter weight was the big difference. The e-tech got slightly better gas mileage, but only 1-2 MPG's.

Reliability is something we will have to wait and see about, after they rack up a few miles. Lots of stuff to go wrong. A very complicated, costly design, for very little gain. It would be interesting to compare the e-tech to an SDI XP. I don't think there would be much difference. We both came away with the same thought. The e-tech wasn't worth the extra money and the extra complexity. The SDI gets the job done for a lot less money!

To answer your questions (and no, I don't work for BRP, nor am I a dealer, just my opinions/observations):

1) They should be about equal for fuel, the E-Tech is supposed to be run on Premium, the SDI can take regular (87 octane), though it's computer is set for 91 it will retard the timing to burn less octane!

2) If on the XP chassis, they both will be comparable in weight. Right now, the TNT in the E-Tech is 15 lbs heavier than the 500SS TNT!!!

3) Both same on the reliability front, with the E-Tech taking a slight lead (how can it not? 3 year warranty on spark plugs! Summerize option, push the button, cover it up, wait for the snow again!!)

4) Again, the E-Tech and SDI will be about the same in speed, except the E-Tech has a lot more low end grunt, the torque makes it feel like a 4 stroke and pulls like it's an 800!!!

For what it's worth (FWIW), for the extra $200-300, I would choose an E-Tech over the SDI it's that much fun!! Hoping this friday they show us the E-Tech in a Renegade package, I might buy one for the wife!!!

Good luck.
