Noticed more than once guys unplug their TPS when drag racing short distances. Talked to Doug Flannery and the only reason he could think of was to move the whole timing curve up and possibly building heat in the pipe faster.Anyone have any experiance with this or is it just a wives tale.

Believe It! I talked with Bill who does all cdi programming for polaris. He said there are 6 curves for timing advance throughtout the RPM range. Unplugging this puts the cdi in default to the most advance setting. This guy gave me an education in the 20 or so minutes I talked with him. XCR 1250 has his number if you want to hear it from the horses mouth.

Would that be a good thing or a bad thing in a 1000ft. run.Don,t want to risk any kind of engine failure, but if it helps, why not!

I just did over 20, 1000ft runs with my XCR 800 and during those runs I was changing jets and forgot to hook the tps back up, instantly lost 2 mph with it not hooked up! I pluged it back in and gained the 2 mph back.
