I have a srx 700 tripple, that i purchased second hand, i know nothing about machines, but heres my prob, it backfired on me twice on two seperate times, the first time i tried to start it it wanted to star and it turned over then it baqckfired and i couldnt get it going again, the second time i put new plugs in there and same thing only this time it was loud and i seen flames for the muffler, any one got any ideas,again i know nothing about machines i am a computer tech but if i get help i may be able to figure it out my self. i live in a remote community and no help, maybe a manual i can download would help me locate things i need to find.

Have you ever seen it run...like before you bought it? There are alot of things to check, but the fact you know nothing about sleds I wouldn't know how to even start.

This will sounds nuts but there is a service bullitin and a recall for AFFECTED sled only that may cause this. Try starting the sled with the headlights on HIGH beam. When you start the sled there is a headlight relay that Keeps the power from the lights till the sled reaches a steady 700 rpm in low beam. I had a similar problem with mine , and took a long time to track it down and with the help from a good dealer, we found the trouble simply by turning the headlights to high before starting. If this is the trouble YAMAHA has a new headlight wiring kit and a relay and will install it at no cost .
